My favorite part about going to school in New York is by far the assortment of interesting, rare, old, forgotten, and downright shitty cars that I see on a daily basis. I’ve been meaning to post them for a while now, but I’ve got so many that I’m splitting it up into a few galleries. In part two is all of the cool trucks, SUVs, and vans I’ve seen in the last year or so.
(One of 10000000000 Land Cruisers in Brooklyn)
This is one of my favorite cars in the gallery, a RHD imported Hilux. I see it all around, which leads me to believe it’s daily driven as well.
Barely got a picture of this as is flew past... As a fan of GTA 5, I recognized it as the inspiration for the Insurgent
Is it still considered DOTS if there’s no street?
Though beater sports cars are my love, I’d love a Montero or a Samurai.
Thanks for looking!

I’m digging the Hilux, 80’stastic stripes and all. The little vw-amino is pretty cool too. Don’t see many of those anymore.

That Toyota will outlive anyone on Oppo, it’s a 2.4 diesel. I think I’d paint the TOYOTA letters white but keep it stock otherwise

She looks pristine.
Is she a ‘righty-tighty’ or ‘lefty-lucy’? I’m guessing she’s RHD with non NAS rear lights.

In that photo of the car passing by, what I saw was the CLK63 AMG Black Series.

That picture was taken at work so I’ve grown used to it!

I didn’t actually notice where the steering wheel was, but seeing how it’s got an Ontario plate it could very well be an import!

Nice! I actually recognize some of these spots and cars. The jalop scene here is definitely underappreciated

This is a really neat selection of cars. Classic 4x4s seems to be the order of the day in NYC. However...
Please...please tell me you at least noticed the CLK63 AMG Black.

That white one was for sale, but I seem to remember it was way too expensive

Wow! Why so many older cars in New York, though? I thought the car culture consisted of yellow NV200 vans and yellow Prii haha.*

Every remaining Sami that runs is way too expensive. That one looked stone stock though so it might be worth the $$$.

It had a lot of rust though, check out the sills, hood and below the gas cap

Here in Illinois that’s called “Showroom” condition. I’ve seen TJs in way worse condition than that.

Same with that beat to hell orange FJ; I always laugh when I see it because I know someone probably paid 5-digits for it.

There’s a house right next to the Avenue H stop on the Q line with 2/3 military trucks stuffed in the backyard. If you ever pass by there, you should keep your eyes peeled.
There’s also an E28 (I think) left rotting outside another house a bit further north up the line.

Cool stuff. Great post. I love just driving around the city and looking at what people collect or DD that is unusual.

Also, never would’ve expected so many FJs in NYC.
