Does anyone make a truly bare-bones scooter anymore?
Something like this?

That little thing just looks sweet.
It seems my 16 year old son has no interest in driving, so I’m starting to wonder whether it might make sense to get him a little scooter with which to get around (and not need Dad’s Taxi quite so much).
There’s the Honda Ruckus - that looks to be the closest thing to the milspec thing above.

Even that, though, looks to have significantly more to it.

Walmart sells a really REALLY basic one for about $22:

One advantage of a vespa over a ruckus is there is slightly more protection from spray due to massive flat front and to me at least italian style > mil spec looks.

So you want to stick your kid on something without a headlight, or horn, or even a front brake? Why?

Got about 12, in various states of destruction, scattered around the garage. That’d be my ideal solution, though.

You make some good points.
Needs the basics - lights, horn, brakes... but my son’s a military buff, so milspec is very much ‘him’.

Sure. Can’t get more bare bones than this.

And don’t forget light. I probably need two that I can mount on the walls of the garage.
