Safety standards have killed car design. This thing is beautiful.

Nice. ‘57 Lincoln is one the prettiest Lincolns. My friend has similar. They both have the funky air conditioning system that routes the air through the roof with fun transparent ducts just in front of the rear window.

The ‘58-’60 Lincolns, which I got one of recently (‘59), have a more traditional heater (and when equipped, A/C) system, which all the same *does* have ducts running through the front doors to supply the back seat. Nothing in the roof, I think, though the visor cosmetically looks like it does, and the Continental (which I don’t have) offered a Breezeway Window.

I haven’t noticed these door duct before. I got to keep that in my mind when I see a ‘58-’60 model.

If you look at this picture of the ‘59 that Desert Classics has, do you see how the bottom-most section of the door card is farther in by about 75mm and carpeted? The armrest, with its switches and ashtray, conceals the air duct. The ‘58-’60s have two completely separate heater systems, one in each fender, and when equipped with A./C two separate evaporators as well. Strangely, I do not believe they do not control separately, but that may be something I choose to alter.

Beige. Want a boring color on a pretty car

I ran across this looking for a good front-on shot so I could compare the zinc letters to a 59 - somebody is selling some older ones (In search of the missing ‘C’). Did you know the hood letters seem to have been an option? I’ve seen a good number now, even Continentals with no letters at all. Meanwhile, I’ve got a 60 Premiere wheel center (found part of the old one in the seat) and script for the right fender on the way...

I didn’t think any of the Continetals had the script across the front? And you have a 60 Premerie wheel center? That is pretty damn cool.

Did you ever think of getting an early 50s Capri script? That might be a cool addition to the car

At some point there was a C O N T I N E N T A L set of letters, but that may have been a 58 option only or something. Or 57? I don’t recall, but I do remember that the actual letters of that kind I saw attach using pins and not blades like... at least the 57 Premiere. Maybe it was a set for the back of a 61 I’m remembering. But yeah, up through 60 the Continentals were still badged separately, so any hood letters are not LINCOLN. Regardless of all that, there appear to be some Capris and some Premieres that have the zinc letters and some that don’t.

I’ve thought about the Capri script, but I don’t know where it would go. The Lincoln script has the place of honor on the front fender and putting it where the Premiere logo or box goes would be weird. Of course it’s weird in a different way to have a car with its own model name nowhere on it...

I’ll tell you what would work, would be a custom badge like the Mark IV one but saying Capri. Or a tall thin script badge on the rear fender on a fake vent. Thinks...

It might be worth considering putting it where this 59 Continental logo is located. Although it might look a little busy with a Lincoln script across the hood.

Fun fact: because the sheet metal is common between the Capri and the Premiere, the punched holes/mounting locations for the C-pillar map lights are there on the Capri, just with no lights. If I can source them...

That would be a neat addition
