For a not very important reason.
Someone on my local BMW forum is trying to identify this. Any guesses? His best guess is something Ford Nucleon related.

It looks more GM-ish to me, like the Fisher Body sill plates on old GM cars.

So, out of pure curiosity I did a similar image search on google. It was all guns...no dice.
Edit: I love the style though. It kind of reminds me of something you’d see in a BioShock game.
