Howdy Opponauts, I have some pics (and words) I think you’ll like, but need your expert advice:

1. Is a photodump encouraged / discouraged?

2. What’s a good time to post so that many will see it before it scrolls off?

3. Any other advice?

I’ve enjoyed so many posts here that I want to contribute, but want to make it worth everyone’s trouble.

Adorable Subie 360 (and bonus) for your time:

Photodumps highly encouraged. But words + photos is best.

Lots of people post photo dumps, so I’d say they’re generally welcome. As for time of day, that one can be harder to pin down. It seems like mornings are fairly well trafficked... So, like before 11am Eastern, maybe? But don’t forget that you can also bump your post later by changing the publishing time. Some of mods get annoyed with bumps or reposts while others don’t really seem to mind, so I’d say do that sparingly. But I’ve seen people make a post in the morning and then bump it again after 5pm for the “night crowd.”

One last thing... If the photos are yours, as in, if you took them yourself, then you’re also more than welcome to post them to Photography (photography.kinja.com)or to share them there. If you’re not already an author and you’d like to be, let me know and I’d be glad to add you. :)

Photodump with words describing each photo is nice. If you think it’s worthy, pester one of the FP editors on Twitter to share it to Jellopicnic.

Thanks! These are all my own photos, so it would be cool to have authorship on photography...not sure how artistic they are but many are at least interesting.

Not a problem at all. We accept all kinds of photographs and all kinds of photographers on Photography.

Kinja has changed a little bit, so I've added you to our list of authors, all that's needed now is for you to accept the invitation. Welcome!

Nice 360. I believe it’s at least a 360 Young S. The plaque claims it’s a Young SS, but the SS usually has the “SS” decal on the upper right (left in the picture) of the “hood”, and the Subaru badge usually has a red background.

The Young S and Young SS were introduced later in the 360’s production life as performance models. The S got a 4 speed manual rather than the base 3 speed, a tachometer, bucket seats, cool graphics, and a roof with a concave section to hold a surfboard. The SS also got an upgraded engine. The upgraded engine featured chromed cylinders and twin carburetors. This 356 CC engine produced 36 hp, meaning it achieved a power output of over 100 horsepower per liter.

I can really only answer one of your questions: photodumps are awesome, but text is welcome (even if it’s just to say what the car is, etc.)

Wow, thanks for the response! The car was cool in person, and much more so knowing more of the story.

I already wanted a 360, but now...even more so.

There is definitely a sweet spot between a good dump and overload. If there are too many pictures, people will stop looking. I’m not sure what that point is, but be ruthless in your selection process and try not to have duplicates. Some words of explanation are always helpful. We’d like to know why these photos are important to you

Also, if there is a particular time of day that you are usually on Oppo, post then. That’s where most people will be familiar with you. For example, I’m here most of the day, so I post late morning when most of the daytime regulars are here. And as Xylo said, there's always Photography. It's a great place to share stuff and get helpful, non judgmental feedback.

The 360 is surprisingly good at autocross, as I’ve found on YouTube.

A past coworker of mine (that I still talk to) has a Sambar pickup from the same era in his “small” collection. I’ve been dying to see it (and get a ride).

Avoid huge dumps unless they are of a spectacular subject (you may snicker here).

No time is better. The more readers usually means more posts. That’s the bargain you strike with Oppo.

Write a good headline, make the firstparagraph rock and use a great photo. That’s all you ever can do. Then hope for the best.

Posting content which has some obscure information/back story is always an interesting read.
