Anyone have any favorite car interiors they saw this year? I had three.

The 2017 R8, Huracan, and 2016 Camaro were my favorites. Why? They all have one thing in common that we’ve been seeing a lot more of in recent time. More minimalistic and driver-focused interiors.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Special nod to the GT350, because I’ll be damned if I didn’t like the looks of that one, it just looks awesome:

Kinja'd!!!

So what have you got?

Unconventional answer time!

Kinja'd!!!

Look at that interior, just LOOK at it and tell me it’s not the best interior in any midsize sedan currently on sale.

I like that R8 steering wheel a lot. It has a lot going on, but also looks simple at the same time.

That seriously looks like it belongs in an entry level luxury car, not an Optima.

I know it’s technically a “concept,” but I think this is magnificent...

Kinja'd!!!

I’m really hoping most of it carries over into production. Only thing I’d do is swap some open pore wood for all that chrome. I even like the blue. It’s different. Unexpected. Luxurious .

Kinja'd!!!

And those seats... OMG

The CT6 and LaCrosse look great

Kinja'd!!!

Kinja'd!!!

Nice and clean designs with few buttons and little clutter.

I also like the new Tucson’s interior. Not sure why but it just looks right. Plus like Hyundai and Kia’s other products I’m sure it feels great.

Precisely! It’s almost like they moved things from other parts of the dash, placed them on the wheel, but because they cleaned everywhere else, it doesn’t look cluttered.

From a minimalist drivers standpoint, those are very good, and I do like them. However, I like to be coddled.

Interestingly, most of the best current luxury interiors are actually in SUVs (XC90, Range Rover Autobiography, and Bentathingy)

The Cadillac and Buick do look pretty damn sharp. My only concern is whether or not that’s proper wood grain trim and not some laminated imitation pasted into the interior. I certainly hope not.

I like the stitched knee guard on the Tucson. Like the new Camaro, it’s a nice touch.

If it looks exactly like this, minus the ungodly amount of chrome trim, they’ll have a winner on their hands if a good amount of the concept follows through in the final product.

Kinja'd!!! K-Roll-PorscheTamer > sm70- why not Duesenberg?

Of those, I prefer the XC90. The Range Rover is too square and bland, the Lexus still looks pretty cheap to my eye, and the Bentamajigger while plush and fancy as a Bentley should be, something about that center console seems odd to me.

I’m pretty certain Cadillac has been using real wood in their cars as of late. Now Buick I’m not entirely certain of, but if that’s imitation wood, it’s a damn good imitation.

I wish more manufacturers put those knee guards on the center consoles, boo to leaning my knee on hard plastic.

The funny thing about the Lexus is, while some of the metal and wood looks plastic, it’s actually all real. I have no idea how the hell they pulled that off. Still, it’s better than the car it replaced, which actually did contain plastic wood. Pink plastic wood, at that.

From my visit to the LA auto show:

The GT350’s interior is not bad..I loved the steering wheel, but aside from that it did not stand out from a regular Mustang GT (granted, I really like the GT’s interior!)

My favorites in order:

Audi S6 (in this exact color scheme)

Kinja'd!!!

Audi TTS

Kinja'd!!!

Mercedes-AMG GT-S

Kinja'd!!!

991.2 Carrera S

Kinja'd!!!

Alfa Romeo Giulia

Kinja'd!!!

And as much as I love the F-Type and lust for a 6-speed V6 coupe, after drooling all over these cars the Jag’s interior is a hot mess.

I’ve always noticed it to always be a Buick thing to use imitation wood more often than not. Hats off to them if it’s not. Cadillac on the other hand I’m pretty sure has been using real wood as well.

When wearing shorts, the knee guards are awesome, but with pants, I never notice regular plastic bits to be much of an issue. Aesthetically, the guards do make the interior more luxurious if even in a most minor way.

991.2

That new machined-looking steering wheel with the selectable modes switch brings the entire cabin up to dismissing, what I though to already be excellent, any 991.1 interiors that have come before it.

I’ll take mine in drowned in Alcantara with the manual ‘box, por favor.

I’m very fond of the new 2016 Civic. It’s not just nice for a Compact Car segment offering, but it’s just straight-up nice.

I mean, damn, this is $19k?!?!? (as pictured yes, this is a LX with the cloth seats and the 6spd Manual)

NO

Merge that god damn screen into the dash or get it out.

Biggest interior complaint in the world for me. Audi is the biggest offender.
