Nice! You can beat the crap out of it for another 30 years.

Looks more dirty than beat. Take a hose to it and see how it shapes up.

I’ve definitely seen worse. I have a slightly smaller Crafstman box of the same era (mine’s 20 years old) and it’s held up pretty well over the years. Sometimes the slide/tracks get jammed up but overall it’s worked well. If it’s got the roller bearing tracks than it will hold up much better.

YISS. Only one flaw, not that many mini-drawers near eye height to put small specialty crap in. There is of course the easy solution of dividers...

Mostly. The bottom drawers are a bit fucked because a truck has backed into it

Very cool! Take a moment to clean it up and lubricate the moving bits while it’s empty. (Or did it come with tools?)

Do you have a key for it?

Sweet!

Older Craftsman boxes are better than the newer ones anyways, IMO.

30 years old = better than current stuff. Certainly the case with Sears.

It came with a few bits and pieces inside, no tools, and no key. I’ll have to rekey it

A couple years ago, I received a free old steel cabinet that I now use for my larger tools. It didn’t come with keys either, but since it was unlocked, I removed the whole locking handle assembly and took it to the local locksmith. They were able to cut new keys for it instead of replacing the cylinder. I think I payed ten bucks or so; totally worth it.

From the looks of things, I’d bet you can hammer and/or pull the bad parts back into serviceable shape. Bottom drawers are good for large/heavy/little-used tools anyway, making it easier to deal with slightly “trick” operation in those areas. Some old rags and a bottle of dollar-store degreaser should take care of the dirt.

A comparable-looking new one is maybe eight or nine hundred dollars on sale (more if it’s one of the heavy-duty, ball-bearing-slider pro models), so even if you can only count on most of it working, it was still a pretty good value for the money.

Shoot that's awsome. Even if some drawers don't work and it could use some cleaning. Or you could sticker it to death or repaint it. Or just keep it as is because easy. Either way...score! I need to get one.

I’ve got the same cabinet (25 years newer) and I love it.

Clean it up, and fill it up!
