On Saturday of my long weekend for Thanksgiving I visited some friends, on the way out I realized that the driveway had quite an array of cars in it and took a picture, thought Oppo might appreciate it.

Kinja'd!!!

It was getting dark and my phone is dying, this is all the better the picture gets.

Quite a spectrim of cars - including a P71 crown vic, (manual) caliber, NA miata, 944, e39 M5, and an FR-S.

On a side note, Friday I detailed my car (talk about polishing a turd) which was also the first it’s been washed since... some time in June I think. This was before polish and wax but you get the idea - likely also the reason it was raining the next day for the picture above.

Kinja'd!!!

It actually turned out pretty well.

You ever think about doing a quick trim delete?

On the rear doors? I’ve considered it but supposedly there are one or two holes behind those trim pieces I’d rather not have to patch up - though if this weren’t a complete beater I’d either do that or find and put some on the front doors/fenders. The incomplete-trim thing does look pretty bad.

Honestly I didn’t even notice it at first but that looks pretty clean for a beater

That trim piece is good for preventing door dings.

Only reason there wasn’t one on the front is to accommodate a Police shield.

This is correct - this was a city cruiser if I remember correctly, thus the whole front door trims are off for the decals - the state ones actually just have a notch cut in them, most of the time.

Thanks, most of the paint is rustoleum and there’s a reasonable amount of fiberglass where there used to be metal. There’s also nothing behind the rocker trim where there should be both rocker panels and a pinch weld for the rockers/door jams/floors. I haven’t patched up as much on the other side, so there are a few holes ranging from 1/4” to approaching three-fingers wide.

I try to keep it somewhat nice looking in any case though, since I do like the car and it’s the least I can do - just because a friend is dying of cancer doesn’t mean you stop hanging out.

Despite the body falling apart (literally) the frame is in good shape except for one spot, and I’ve rebuilt most of the mechanicals (short of a total overhaul of engine/trans of course) out of necessity so it should keep on putting along (literally - exhaust leaks pretty bad) until there’s nothing left of it, or the trans gives out, or it jumps time, whichever first. Then it will be parts for another
