The right way is the smallest steelies possible with gigantic, meaty rubber, none of this OEM-sized alloy crap. If your car doesn’t ride like it’s on air bags, you fucked up somewhere.

Correct. Downsized steelies with pizza cutter tires on em.

2 doors = best number of doors.
Also: good winter mode-ing.

Alloys FTW! No rust, light weight (relative), dirt cheap 16” snowflakes on some narrow studded snows. I would purposely look for unplowed hills to climb on my way home from school.

What you deal with in winter driving, see, is the one time of year the road surface is soft - but not too soft. It’s also crunchy and noisy. With a sand tire, you not only soften the ride even farther to its best softness all year, but you muffle the snow crunch and drown it out in tire whine. Win-win.

Just don’t go too small and screw yourself out of a bigger-brake future upgrade!

I don’t like steelies. makes the car look much cheaper than it is. only notable exception is fitting cop car center caps:

VW knew better than to offer the MkIV GTI as a 4 door over here. It’s just better that way.

As far as I know, 15” Accord steelies fit the S2000 in theory, but with 2mm of clearance to the calipers... so I just picked up a second set of OEM wheels to be on the safe side.

Psh too late, who needs bigger brakes

I thought I did before I had someone legitimately chisel my rotors off and replace them. I was thinking about getting bigger brakes, but had to push the idea out because I went to the smallest rims possible for my winters :D

I approve this message.
Although, I am breaking that rule as we speak. I put my winter steelies on this weekend, but they're a size larger than the 15's my Civic came with. In my defense though, I had these from when I had my Mazda3, and 16's were the smallest that would fit (and clear the brakes).

Maybe when I’m 146 and can’t figure out how coats work I’ll start taking my winters somewhere warm, maybe Ohio.

What if the stock size was the smallest that would fit???
Also, coilovers because racecar!

I’m doing it right! Not shown: Worn lower suspension arms so it’s a real hoot to try and get any forward traction on. horrible understeer in roundabouts at 50kmh? you go it!

My parents threw away my damn BMW steelies. So they got me a set of OEM basketweaves as consolation.

I picked up some massive 185/65/15s on (obviously) 15” Fiesta steelies for my FiST.
I’m sure dry traction should be interesting, but it should be a lot of fun in the snow

Studless snow tires on steelies warm my heart.

I always stick to alloy in the winter the added rotation mass of steel will only have negative effects on handling. Effects most people will never feel or see but they are still there. Although i some cases I’ve seen alloys weight more then steelies.

mines like that all year round.
