So I’ve finally made it in the Automotive-World! I’m able to post on an Automotive Blog!

Anyways, here is a short introduction of myself. My name is Joe, and I live in desolate tundra of Buffalo, NY. I have also lived in the Automotive Mecca of Metro-Detroit from 2004-2014. I’m 35, and Married with 2-kids.

I daily-drive my 2-kids in this: (An ‘04 Mazda RX-8 with many mods and is actually one of the more reliable cars I have owned.)

Kinja'd!!!

In the Winter, I daily-drive them in this: (A 2016 Subaru WRX STi-Base)

Kinja'd!!!

Anyways, I love cars. My father was a mechanic and had me working on cars as far back as I can remember. I helped rebuild a Chrysler 318 V8 from an old-police car when I was 8 years old. From the time I was able to drive, I have found a way to tweak and mod every car I have owned.

As far as cars I’ve owned, heres a list: (Ive BOLDED my favorite ones)

-89 Ford Tempo AWD (This is actually a pretty rare car)

-92 Ford Tempo

-92 Plymouth Duster

-88 Pontiace Fiero GT

-87 Pontiac Fiero GT

-88 Pontiace Fiero coupe

-2004.5 VW Jetta GLI

-07 Vw GTI Fahrenheit Edition

-86 Ford Mustang SVO

-07 Ford Crown Victoria P71

-10 VW Jetta Sportwagen TDI

-05 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV

-04 Mazda RX8 (Current)

-11 Subaru WRX

-14 Ford Escape-Titanium

-16 Subaru WRX STI (Current)

I have been online in the automotive world for a long-time and have been a member of a bunch of forums. I’m a champion of the weird and unappreciated. I am the kind of person who chooses something different for no other reason than to be different. I have an obsession with the Wankel-Rotary engine and will probably own at least one for the rest of my life. I also know and have forgotten more about the Pontiac Fiero than 99.9% of the population out there.

Probably the car I am most well-known for is this guy:

Kinja'd!!!

And it had this in the engine-bay:

Kinja'd!!!

and did things like this: (It’s best is actually 10.97 at 127mph)

So yeah, that’s me. I’m looking forward to contributing to this community by writing about the various experiences I’ve had with my cars over the years as well as reviews of parts and installs and maybe even some photo-dumps from auto-events.

Hey, welcome! We’re a Ford Tempo family; my great aunt had the AWD, my mom bought a 1989 GL 5-speed, and we inherited my grandmother’s 1992 V6 auto when she stopped driving. It’s still on the road today, two owners later. And it has Mustang parts! One lapbelt buckle, after the original one gave up the ghost.

To take a quote that has been around for awhile, “Life is too short to drive boring cars”

Thanks! It was a hell of a build. The current owner still keeps in contact with me and it’s still running strong.

I bought my Fiero in 1999. Back then, I was looking for one of 3 cars; Fiero, MR2, and the FC RX7. They are all still great options to me.

All these cars have pop up lights. Therefore, these are best cars.

Thanks! I truly love driving it. It provides an experience that I have never got in another car. I remember the first time driving one and it was like “This is the perfect car” (For me at least). I plan on keeping it for a long time and continuing to improve it.

Hooray the closest opponaut to me so-far whom I can shamelessly hit up for ride alongs! “Close” being a relative term in upstate NY I’m about 3 hours away hidden within the vast wilderness of the fingerlakes. Lemme know if you ever go to any solo/ rally x events

I like just about all of those car choices. Welcome.

Most years, it is tough for me to hit up Auto-X and HPDE’s simply because I have a job that requires me to work pretty much every weekend.

This year though, I have every Sunday off. I certainly hope that this will result in at least a couple of Auto-X’s and maybe a HPDE in my RX-8 this coming year.

I’m glad to know there is at least one other person in the somewhat local area!

Welcome fellow Western NY opponaut. That’s a pretty impressive list of vehicles. did you ever run into any snap oversteer issues with that Fiero?

Also new. I too should write an intro post at some point. I spent 13 years in Niagara Falls, NY, so I wish you all the best. It sounds like you’ve spent enough time in the north country though that you know the drill by now.

Oh I know it all too well. My STi has a full winter emergency kit for ~4 days of survival as my job is ‘essential’ so I can’t stay home.

The STi is also equipped with Nokian snow tires, and I have many hours of hoonage under my belt.

Yes. The car had ové 500ft/lbs at the wheels and I had to drive on drag radials to have some semblance of traction.

I had a 720* spin out into a field one time and I can’t even describe how fast the ass-end kicked out on me.

If you want to see a properly built hpde 88 Fiero, check out Steven Snyder’s car.

Well if you read this: http://akursedx.kinja.com/10-months-with… It could certainly thought that I didn’t like it but that’s not totally the case. It had some great features and cruised nicely. It was an overall nice vehicle. But it simply didn’t have the ‘it’ for me. I needed something beyond a sensible DD and now that I’m back in an STi, I feel that need has been filled.
