Hot Sedans need to make a comeback. Hot hatches are fun and all, but there just has to be more than just hatches.

I don’t think I’d want “hot wagons” to be a thing.

Here’s why:

The hot hatch segment is for very affordable, performance oriented vehicles. Wagons can certainly be sporty and fast, but I am hard pressed to call them performance oriented, nor would I want some irresponsible person to have a performance vehicle as long as a wagon to go flying around turns with all the time.

Wagons should be loved, respected and hooned, but only by true wagon lovers, not someone looking for a cheap fast car. If wagons could just make a comeback in general, that would be amazing and open the door for true performance oriented versions, but I wouldn’t want a super cheap one, I would want it to be a bit of an exclusive club. And I say that as a wagon owner, and a “cheap” wagon owner. My Magnum RT cost me less than $7k purchase/tax/title/registration.

Someone please just rid the world of minivans.....

One single supercharged manual Toyota Previa, the 1000hp Bisimoto Odyssey, and the V10 Formula 1 Renault Espace are the only three minivans that will be allowed to remain in existance if I’m ever elected President/supreme autocratic ruler.

340i, S4, Jag XE, Merc C400, the coming alfa giulia, WRX sedan, GLI, Taurus SHO, Charger Scat Pack.

All these cost under $45k, and are quite a joy to drive, produce ample power, and are sedan-bodied. take your pick! :D

I believe that these cars represent a high water mark in euro compact sport sedan design (along with the e30 and volvos of that vintage, of course).

$45k is a stretch compared to the hot hatch segment. A big stretch many younger people today wont be willing or able to make.

Better than the last few - 13,000 trouble-free miles in 6 months. Always a bit of risk but I love this thing.

They’re lovely. e30 with the most stout interior, 190E with the most solid body, and Alfa with the suspension and powertrain that those too deserve.

that is implying most younger people can afford to buy a $30K hot hatch.

That being said, the GLI, WRX, Charger R/T, and more basic german sedans are closer to the hot hatch segment.

Also, remember that when adjusted for inflation, these two cars were also both comparable to cars such as the 340i and the S4.
