Oh this looks nice, I’ve always had a thing for black cars
Only asking 2500, not to shabby
Wonder what the interior is like?
Alright, about what you would expect for two and a half grand. HOLD UP
Closer...
Dafuq is this??

Yep. The Miata was available with a 4 speed auto as an option. I’m not sure they sold well.

Not as iconic as the NA Miata obviously, but I am finding many auto Celica GTs/GT-S’ and all I can ask is, “why?” The entire point of these cars is that they are small, engaging, and manual!
My mom has owned her NA for 15 years, and she’s well into her sixties — I have no sympathy for anyone who owns an auto NA. Only contempt.

As much as it pains me personally, this is exactly what I'm looking for for my wife. Every car I've ever earned has been a manual but so far I can't convince her. Since I'm a stupid man though, I'm hoping an automatic Miata might at least spark a little passion for cars and the manual will come farther down the road....

Way to take one for the team, my friend. Best of luck

A swap is possible but at that point, it’s just better to search for a manual.

I have no desire for a full on transmission swap. The most hands on thing i’ve done to my car is change the washer fluid and oil.

Are you sure you want to buy a 20 year old car then? I just replaced everything (booster, master, lines calipers and pads/rotors) on my 90. That would cost an ass load at a shop

I want a car to work on later in life, not now as a 16 year old still looking to purchase my first car.

Gotcha, that being said miatas are very easy to work on and there’s an insane amount of info out there so it makes most jobs pretty simple. They’re good first cars to learn to work on.

If you’re looking for your first car that can reliably get you through high school and college, then buy something mechanically and cosmetically simple like a 90s Honda/Acura/Toyota/Lexus. The Miata can be very reliable when taken care of but there’ll be times when it’ll break down and you’ll have to get dirty and/or pay up to get it back on the road. Crankshaft wobbles are a hit or miss on 1.6L Miatas and crankshaft keyway failures have happened to 1.8L cars...including my ‘02.
