Found a huge parking lot...
... Fun ensued.
Evening question, Opponauts:
Where do you hoon?

I sure hope it was an empty parking lot. Witnessed some dipshits trying to break the back end of their e36 328i a few hours ago in a parking lot with other cars in it.
I myself like twisty canyon roads so I just hoon on those. Although I try to stick to the speed limits since the sensation of carving a corner is more than satisfying enough for me.

Nice shot!
I yearn for an empty parking lot.

Twisty back roads when they are empty. Always a fun time. Parking lots are awesome in the winter when it starts snowing!

The field around my father-in-law’s house. We have a bit of a big rallyX track prefect for getting the Hoon out of your system. Also some old fire roads about 30 minutes out of town. They’re either sand, or red clay and not really maintained, but there is literally miles of twisty hilly sparsely populated roads, nothing out there but a few hunting shacks. As long as you don’t mind getting a bit dirty.

Oh yeah, it was definitely empty. Here’s another huge one I found (and properly hooned) on my pleasure cruise this morning.
I hear you on the twisty canyon roads thing. There just aren’t many of those around me. :/

Awesome! Those sound like a blast. Grab some pics next time you’re out there!
I drive this little RS pretty hard, so she’s seen plenty of dirt haha!

Thanks! I’ve definitely been following your ‘Super Sanic’ antics on here as well Haha. Big fan of your ride too
I’ve only autocrossed a couple times, but love it. And snowy empty lots are literally the only thing I enjoy about winter weather.

Haha awesome. I’m on the hunt for some large dirt areas that aren’t too rough for the car. Every lot or field I’ve found has been a little too ‘off road’ for my mostly stock little hatch.

The baby blood really helps with the handbrake turns, and you can use their severed heads as slalom cones!
Brilliant!

Thanks!
Not to increase your yearning, but I found another one on my cruise this morning :)
Consider it hooned.

Sweet dude.
Yeah I was really impressed with the car. I was specifically looking for the ‘slow car fast’ kind of thing and the Sonic fit the bill perfectly.
It sounds crazy but I thought the Fiesta ST is a more ‘fast car’ driving experience (which is normally a good thing) but for me still too fast to push as hard as I wanted to during normal driving. I’m weird like that.
The Abarth was a good pick for me also but I’m just too damn big for that car.
Also, I like the steel wheel look you’ve got going there. I liked the base Camaro wheels too
Is your LS the 1.8? I’ve driven one with that engine a few times, throttle response is way better than the 1.4T in my RS

Spicewood Springs Rd, between 11pm and 2am. Gotta watch for wildlife, tho.

Nah, I think he’ll enjoy the 40 NA Miatas... or maybe the 27 Skylines.

6 years! Thats a low estimate, I think sometime around the 2025 timeframe is more accurate.

The steel wheels are for winter, with my winter tires (michelin x-ice 2). I have factory 15” alloys for my all seasons. It has the 1.8, with the 5spd. The only thing I hate that it needs a 6th cog for the highway, at 100kph it is turning 2500rpm then at 120kph it is turning 3000rpm and really buzzy. It is a 1 option base (fog lights), no AC, no Cruise control, crank windows, manual mirrors. So it is the most light version you can get, its around 2500lbs. I thought about modding it, but want to keep it as a comfortable DD. I sometimes take it up in the twisty’s and it handles pretty good on hard economy tires.
I had a 1.4L / 6spd Cruze for loaner when my sonic was in for some warranty work. Great engine, but hated the power band. I found it too peaky. I find the all the power in the 1,8 is 2000rpm - 4000rpm. After 4000rpm it is out of the power band. I avg 7.3L/100kms or 33mph 60%city/40%highway with some hard driving. If really drive like a grandma going to church I can get 6.5L/100kms or 36mpg. For what I do its perfect.

That looks glorious. I dream of finding one of those mythical empty parking lots. Sadly here there aren’t many. Although there’ss plenty of canyon roads to make up for it.
