Feel free to add to this small list of the forgotten cool cars that OPPO never/rarely talks about. Only rule, has to 2013 and up.

Toyota Venza...
...I’d rock one.

It has a ton of features, a 6 speed manual, and a 200 hp turbo 4. What’s not to like?
![]() 11/28/2015 at 14:49 |

don’t they make the 200 in AWD now? Or was that a dream
![]() 11/28/2015 at 14:49 |

ditto, in red tho

Remember when you could get this with a 420hp V8? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

isn’t the 5.6 an option?

No longer available. Went away when they changed to all Q names.

Same for the Veloster.

For the 10k less they cost to a comparable 4Runner, and being available with a 6-speed in top offroad spec, I would totally take an Xterra.

It certainly doesn’t get the same attention as the FiST or FoST.

When did they stop making the Ranier? I thought it’s been dead longer than that.
Funny you mention it: I saw one last week.

That looks like a Scion iM with a Kia grill to me.

French Diesel-hybrid, AWD and (kind of) manual Wagon with offroady bits:

Oh woooooooooow!!!!!!! That is one fine ride!!!!!!!!!

I approve of every single one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It weighs nearly two tons and is pretty unremarkable otherwise. If you really want a sweet PSA wagon you’ll want a C5 Tourer with the 3.0 Twin Turbo Diesel (same engine is used in Jaags and Range Rovers). Dat Hydractive III+, yo.
![]() 11/28/2015 at 15:50 |

I think the Veloster works too, but its looks allow it to be noticed; the Forte5’s styling leaves it unnoticed.
![]() 11/28/2015 at 15:53 |

maybe 2 tons, but if the chassis is done right, it will perform great. It looks fantastic and the 3.0 TT diesel must be a charm for sure
![]() 11/28/2015 at 15:54 |
|
It does, actually. But the Forte5 came before the iM/Auris refresh.

We don't talk about the Miata do we?

Or Volvo wagons and Old British cars right?

or as James May said on his first day, “B M bloody W’s!”
![]() 11/28/2015 at 16:13 |

You're right. I've never seen an M3 or even a plain E30 ever mentioned.

I like it in theory but I have a thing against fwd cars with twist-beam rear suspensions.

Infiniti’s website disagrees with you.

Do they not handle so well?
![]() 11/28/2015 at 16:30 |

They can do fine, but in my experience they often have trouble handling mid-corner bumps.

OH SWEET BABY JESUS YES!!!!!!!!

No not the Citroën, the Pug. Granted the C5 is only 200 pounds lighter, but at least it can outaccelerate a 1980s Golf.

Cadillac XTS Vsport. For when you're a grandpa but WRC is life.

YAY!!!!

I don't know. They always seemed like slightly grandpafied Trailblazers.

1 trillion percent FACT!
![]() 11/28/2015 at 23:32 |

I think “grampafied” describes the Buick brand as a whole pretty well. I've heard they do have some decent models now, but they always strike me as having the "old person" reputation.

Nismo is a sad state. The idea is awesome, but the cars are too fat and heavy. They’re for older buyers with more money.
![]() 11/29/2015 at 22:37 |
|
No. They are very good cars I think. Besides, old people buy all sorts of cars from all brands
![]() 11/30/2015 at 00:49 |
|
It’s true. But I think they’ve failed to capture the heart of the enthusiast as much as they should be.
Sales speculation aside, something like the 86 or IDX, by Nissan/Nismo with a turbo, would stir the pants of a lot more people on Oppo. Maybe then they wouldn’t be on a forgotten cars list.
![]() 11/30/2015 at 08:54 |

true, especially for the Z. The competition is too high.
![]() 11/30/2015 at 12:01 |

The 200 is kinda AWD. I don’t actually own one, but I have read about this and it doesn’t sound good. Basically, they have a gimmick in there where under normal conditions the driveshaft is outright disconnected from the rest of the drivetrain rendering it effectively FWD. When the computer detects slippage it re-engages the driveshaft letting the rear wheels play.
They do this to boost the mileage figures. But the end result is that the time it takes for the computer to engage and disengage the driveshaft (~0.5s or so) means that the system doesn’t do a whole lot of good as an AWD system.

oh ok. Lexus RX400h had a 100% electric read axle but only worked up to 10 or 15 mph
