What Racing Circuit Would Be Terrifying To Run In Reverse?

Fairly straightforward, but then, you wouldn’t really know if Spa is a bigger bitch to run in reverse unless you do run it in reverse. I did.

You have no idea how scary the Eau Rouge complex is until you start from past Les Combes. The first shocker is the kink. Should you clip it or nah? I hit it, and nothing prepared me for the sting that will come later. Because (1) I suddenly ran out of tarmac, (2) when I did find Radillon, I was on the wrong line, and (3) I hit the wall. It was on GRID on DS, so it didn’t feel much, but now I have a new-found respect for the complex. And don’t get me started in the rest of the track.

But what other track, for you, would be scarier to run the other way around? Laguna Seca? Mosport? Answer below.

Looks like it is sometimes done:

It also looks like I’m spending 300 Euros in March:

I can only speak to the one I have driven, but Road Atlanta backwards, would really suck. the the elevation changes, the sharp trun at the end of the back stretch would literally be a killer.

I mean, if you think hard enough, Road Atlanta is Tilkean.

Mamma mia.

Actually, why not? Even rip out the tarmac to raise the difficulty.

Running this the wrong way around would be terrifying.

Kinja'd!!!

Just imagine that lot thundering towards you as you’re running in the wrong direction...

Road America is a handful going the regular way, I can’t imagine what would happen going in reverse.

Kinja'd!!!

Turn 1 has a huge run-off area because with series like NASCAR Nationwide you’ll be doing 170+ coming into it. Turn 14 has a much smaller run-off and with the 110’ elevation drop from the start/finish line to 14 you’d have even more momentum coming into it.

Same with Sargento Bridge through 6 - regular you have a 55’ drop coming into 5, then a 40’ climb into 6. Reversed you’d have a dramatic drop into 5 and a gradual climb out.

Have a NASCAR overview of the track (starts at 7:38)

Shit son, I used to do that all the time on my 486.

Kinja'd!!!

Oh, yeah. Check out those graphics.

Kinja'd!!!

Uh-oh, looks like there’s a wreck on turn 4!

Kinja'd!!!

Shattered polygons all over the track! It’s going to take race officials some time to clean that up.

Any hillclimb. Take the high-speed insanity of a normall rally stage, and now make it 300% easier to lose control of the car.

At that point I think it’d be more of a contest to see who could roll down the hill and make it across the finish (start?) line without dying.

Yup. Imagine how fast you’d be going into 14. I can’t even imagine. Then you drop again going into Canada Corner. Coming from 6 to 5 downhill.

That track is awful enough on brakes the way it is. I don’t know what cars could take that kind of braking for long!

What about Monaco? The first turns of races are always interesting, and Monaco’s last turn does have any wiggle room. Coming down from the hotel at speed for the finish line... We could see some serious bumper cars.
