...until you tear down old motorcycles for a living. Pulled the fuel lines loose on one the other day and got a face full of the distinct odor of a nail salon. A few months back, we drained something the color and consistency of honey out of a set of carburetors.
Don’t even get me started on some of the things I’ve seen come out of an oil pan.

Bike carbs are fun! Like a fine wine your experience depends on how long the fuel has aged and where.

I have a bike that’s been stored in my parents’ garage in Pennsylvania for several years now, I’m willing to bet that whatever’s in the tank is now something in between nail polish remover and varnish.

I drained the gas tank on my Ninja 250 after it sat for a winter and chunks of tank sealant came out.

I first started working on engines either freshman or sophomore year in high school, small gas engines mostly from old lawn mowers. For the longest time I thought gasoline was supposed to smell like varnish.
