So let’s say you have $500 burning your pocket, and you really need to spend it in anything car-related. Anything will do, as long as it is car related. It can be a Testarossa poster signed by Don Johnson or your senile grand mother’s brand new Buick Verano.
What is the wisest way to spend $500 in the automotive world ?

$500 worth of good tools. Honestly, good tools are the greatest automotive investment you can make, because they hold their value and will bring you a lifetime of enjoyment and memories through wrenching. Money comes and goes, but memories and enjoyment stays.

Shallowest? Six examples of these three, where they’ll be customized the way I want them.
Third-deepest? Upgrading my bike’s drivetrain to a 7-speed.
Best? Whatever G_Body_Man said.

Specifically the engine hoist, engine stand and hydraulic press I happen to have for sale at a very reasonable price! :D

In related news, the local Firestone only charges $20 for tpms registration, they call it a reset with the scan tool. Dealer wanted $180. Tools would have cost at least $150, probably more like $300+.
