The C6 Corvette looks hideous in Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic, but I want one anyway just to say that I owned a bright orange car!
This image is honestly the only flattering angle I can find of a DSOM ‘Vette.
The title for my WRX finally arrived in the mail, so I’ll go Black Friday car shopping this weekend for a brightly-colored Corvette!

How is that hideous? Sunset Orange Metallic is one of the best orange colors as well. Pretty sure it’s just the one before Daytona.

that sounds like an incredibly dumb reason to buy a car, sorry :/

...I’m sorry, but I just don’t get it.

I think you misspelled “georgeous”
Burnt Orange is such a great colour. Honorable mention for who wore it best:
Avalanche
Ram
Colorado
Dart
Lancer
Even a Dodge Journey looks OK in it.

I’m sure my dad once bought a yellow car because everyone else hates the colour, thats the closest I can do.

As evidenced by the premium that SOM cars pull over their less-bright siblings.

I didn’t necessarily love the Bright Green Metallic paint on my 1998 Z28, but it was a solid 2-3k cheaper than any local LS1 car so I booked a 55 minute flight from Memphis to Atlanta and drove her back home.
I grew to like the color very quickly, especially on overcast days when the color is very dark. It changes depending on the light outside.

So, you’re going to willingly buy a car you dislike, just to say you owned it? Who is going to care?
Your money, I guess.

I think metallic orange falls more into the “screw you, I’m majestic as fuck, sorry not sorry” category of gorgeous.
It looks good in bright sunlight, but gives off some weird browny hues in shadow/overcast.
But it’s going to be my track car, so it kinda has to be an obnoxiously bright color.

I wouldn’t say because I hated the color, but almost every white car I’ve bought I hated the color.
That orange looks great, btw. I don’t know if it’s still true, but I once read that orange is the least popular car color, so now I feel that orange cars are special. I had an orange Gremlin once that was magnificent. Looked just like this.

Exactly what I love.

I don’t even understand the question. Why the hell would you ever buy a car in a color you hate. Either you and I don’t define hate in the same way, or you’re a masochist, or both.
Is it possible? Sure, if someone ever wanted to give me a steep discount on an E46 in baby poo green, I’d think about it. But honestly, I probably wouldn’t even look at an M3 in Phoenix Yellow after I discovered the color.

Every car I’ve owned that I had prejudices against (ex: couldn’t afford the 6-cyl, ended up with base I-4) I ended up enjoying far more than the “perfect” cars I’ve owned.
I’m sold on a C6, but want to go crazy and buy red/orange/yellow.

That is flat out, one of the dumbest reasons I’ve ever heard to buy a car.

Do I need to send help?

no. I buy almost all my cars in spite of the color though.

Thanks! Here’s a few other wheel/tire combos I tried. C5 Z06’s and Torq Thrust M’s. I had lowering springs, but moved to PA and didn’t want to have to roll the fenders and worry about salt getting caught in there. That and the horrible potholes.
She’s back on Z06’s now and off daily duties, but will be put back on the road come Spring.

I tend to begrudgingly like offensively bright colors. Not sure why, but as hideous as Phoenix Yellow looks, I would definitely buy one just for its craziness. It makes the ownership experience more exciting.

I always like the C5 Z wheels more, but then again I had them on my Z so maybe I’m biased.

Huh, I’m actually observing the opposite. DSOM’s are about $3-5K cheaper than other Corvette’s in my area (CT).
I think the low prices are the reason I’m trying to convince myself to like DSOM. It’s one of those colors that falls more into the “screw you, I’m majestic as fuck, sorry not sorry” category of gorgeous. It makes no sense, but you can’t help but secretly love it.
I guess I should rephrase my question to read “Have you ever bought a car in spite of the color?”

It’s weird. A few years ago when I bought my Crosstrek, I ended up with Tangerine Orange Metallic. I wasn’t really a huge fan, but it was just so unique (and obnoxious, in a way) that it grew on me. That, and I liked it the best out of the colors that came with a black interior.
Fast forward to my current black Civic and I wish I had bought something with color, but alas Honda didn't offer any real "colors" on the '15 Civic SE.

I’ve bought my last 2 cars because of the color

The examples of this:
That I’ve seen change hands were always more than other colors except for maybe black. I dunno?

My grandfather has literally that exact model/color combo. Definitely not my first choice but it could be worse.

That’s actually a really popular colour on GM Holdens in Australia. Believe it’s called Burnt Organe in homage to the sun burnt country

Not specifically, but I used my hatred of the color to negotiate the shit out of an ‘02 bugeye WRX wagon in ‘04. It was Sedona Red Pearl, and I came to like the color but at the time all I had eyes for was WR Blue. I stole the thing.

I bought a pukey yellow car, but I didn’t buy it because I hate the color. I bought it because it was an E46 M3 and I just happen to be one of the few that likes Phoenix Yellow.
