so almost two weeks after being told dont let the door hit your ass on the way out (and it was approaching at a high velocity) i’ve had three interviews and today got a request to meet again.
hi opposaurus,
“Guy #2 and I enjoyed meeting you. I am glad you liked the office environment. Your skills are very much what we need. I’d like to meet again to discuss collaborating in more detail. I’m around Friday after Thanksgiving. Let me know if that works for you,
Thank you, #1 guy”
so this is awesome that I could have a job but there is a huge problem. they do not offer health care. I’d have to get it on my own which is a huge expense. If any of you know something about health care and could give me some tips on a good way it would be a huge help.
Funny story. The first question I ask in the interview was “is that from a chevy?”
it looked very much like the one on this photo, with a little bit more rust. #2 guy use to have a GTI and traded it for a jeep. #1 guy had a new Mini, I think countryman. I think I could like it here, as long as I don’t ever need to go to the hospital. (unfortunately with kids, the health care could be a deal breaker for me)

Healthcare is so wack expensive. If I wasn’t supplied healthcare through my Union I don’t think I would even buy it.
Congrats on the prospect though!

ehealthinsurance.com
My employer has health plans that such and still cost me money, though they allegedly pay X towards the poison every month. I say allegedly because for what they expect us to pay you get shit coverage. Anyways, I went and found my own insurance. Spent hours upon hours researching which plan to actually get, which is the downside, but there are some affordable and acceptable plans to be found.

Have you checked out Healthcare.gov?
Wife and I are in a similar position. She got let go a few months ago and never could find a replacement job. She is now working with her brother who has just recently started his own business. It’s just the two of them and things are slow-ish, plus he wants to pay her as a 1099.
To add her to my health plan is an additional $550 per month for premiums. My insurance is decent, but she could purchase a plan on healthcare.gov for $200-320 per month, and actually get pretty good coverage.
Your household income has to be peanuts before you get subsidies through the government.
Putting kids in the mix certainly adds a level of complication, but I encourage you to check it out, everything is easy to navigate.

I don’t make peanuts but mortgage plus he Waltham just about equals my monthly income. I’ll have to check that site out. I really didn’t even know where to start

Give it a go and let me know how it looks, if you have time.
Best of luck.

Ah that makes a lot more sense. Your household has to be something under 40K per year for subsidies, granted it is just me and the wife, no kids. Your circumstances may vary.
