My 2000 F150 has gotten, as they all do out here, a bit rustier than I would like. It’s got 276k miles on it, the frame is actually pretty decent, but the body is just gross. The bed specifically is a big issue...when I drop the tailgate, the whole back of the bed flexes up. I don’t even want to imagine what it looks like under the bed liner.
So I went looking on Craigslist for an older truck, and I found this:
‘86 Ford F-250, half as many miles as my truck, 4x4, diesel, stick. I don’t know anything else about it, but it looks outrageously clean for the money. Plus it’s the same year as my Mustang, so it would make a super 1986tastic tow rig/parts getter for that car.
I want. I want quite badly.

AI’m guessing that’s still a Non turbo?

Nice! Definitely worth a closer look.

Yup. 170hp and 338 ft lbs of naturally aspirated...uh...not quite fury. Still makes more torque than the small block trucks I'm looking at. Plus, it's SO BROWN.

Ooh, nice. Those 6.9s will run forever.

That thing is beautiful!

My friend had a non turbo 7.3, and it had a surprising amount of get up and go. Plus, turbos are more or less a bolt on affair.

Inexplicably, I’ve already raised nearly half his asking price selling junk I don’t need on eBay in the last five hours. That truck would look awesome towing my Mustang up to the drag strip.

So what the fuck are you waiting for?

The seller to email me back, haha. I'll call him tomorrow if I don't hear back by email.

Fact. But hey, if I didn't want to go slow, I wouldn't drive Fords.

Hey sorry to burst your bubble, but it’s a scam. The seller just got back to me with the following reply.
“Hello there,
my 1986 FORD F-250 4X4 XL SUPERCAB , is still for sale. This truck is in great shape. I’m the original owner. It has no damage, no scratches, dents or hidden defects. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained and hasn’t been involved in any accident… Has only 128,400 miles, its manual , with an 430 6.9L engine, brown exterior and clean interior.I have a clear title, without liens or loans on it, under my name. I am selling it at this final price of $1,500 because my husband died 1 month ago (he had a heart attack) and it brings me bad memories and that’s the reason I want to sell it a.s.a.p. I want to use EBAY Services for the safety of both of us so if you’re interested in purchasing this truck just email me with your full name, address including the zip code and phone number, so I can notify EBAY that you are selected as my possible buyer and they will contact you to explain the entire procedure.
Thank you,
Christine Waren”
I too wanted this truck badly

Yeah, I figured that when I saw his phone number wasn't a local area code. He hasn’t gotten back to me anyway.
Oh well. A man can dream.

My dad had pretty much this same truck. Same year, color scheme, engine. I think the wheels were a little different. Great truck.
