Goodbye crappy plastic Twingo grilles, hello shiny mesh. Well when the postman gets here with it...

This is concerning. How much are you planning to use?

Replacing the entire lower grille (well the Twingo only has lower grilles.) Basically the area below the licence plate.

This is concerning.
Indeed. There are so many bad uses of mesh, though good ones do exist. I remember from my teen years an associate who had a bright blue Del Sol with a bodykit + badly mesh-grilled front clip. Atrocious.
If I were going nuts with mesh in any way, I’d get an edge folded and TIG’ed on. The advantages of working in a shop that fabs metal...

You’re fitting it in shiny? Tarty, no?

Yeah it’s staying shiny. The grille is small and low in the bumper so I think it’ll look good without overpowering it. Especially with it being a black car.

I remember going to Home Depot back in the day and picking up some “Gutter Guard”, back when that was the only way to add aluminum mesh grilles to your ride.
Wish I had a better pic of it, but because 2000’s Potato:

That actually looks decent compared to the stock plastic nonsense.

Here is a tip, I used this stuff to protect the fog lights on my car which had a habit of catching stones and breaking almost immediately upon driving the suckers were expensive because you had to buy the whole housing. So I removed the bezel and placed the mesh right over the lenses of the fog light and then put the bezel back on and never had another broken light plus it looked pretty cool too.
Also a lot of gutter leave screens are made of the same stuff though it may not be polished but it is available very cheaply at your local hardware store if you only need to cover smaller areas like fog lights.

I had the car when I worked at a Dodge dealer and we had a couple Neons come in with holes in the condenser and radiator due to rocks. Before the mesh there was nothing keeping them safe. I added style AND functionality.

Yeah I’m actually thinking of mounting some fogs behind the mesh (I dont have fogs at the moment.) I like the look of the lights hidden behind the mesh.

Mine has an really open grille weave that rocks could get through too so this mesh probably is a good idea.

If it’s done well you’ll be good.

It’ll be cut and folded then screwed onto the standard fixing points. Should be strong and fit up fine.
