Someone with a LA area code offering to buy my car sight unseen... Asks if I have a vehicle report. I say no, just receipts and a clean title. He says he needs to make “absolutely sure” that the history is clean, and sends me an encrypted link, which I chose not to click, and says to email the results to “flipper.xxxx@yahoo.com” (the XXXX part is edited)... seems beyond odd for such authenticity regarding a beater Sable...
At this point I might switch to email only. 4 contacts today and only one was a confirmed human being.

Where do you find these people? Or, how do they find you? I mean, yeah CL, but dang

Lol. sounds like a scam

Yeah this isn’t a sight unseen car. And I’m not clicking any links. And a clean title is what I need to sell it, not your nonexistent third party verification link.

No I will not “milk” you.

Usually these guys will link you to a site that requires a small payment to get the vehicle history.. they get a kickback from each person sent there.

These CL horror stories make me glad we have a very robust and much less skeevy alternative in Utah.

If you take the right pills. Anything is possible.

I only do email with CL. Easier to weed out scammers.

“flipper.xxxx@yahoo.com” (the XXXX part is edited)
I once dealt with a guy on CL whose email didn’t need an xxx added.
When I say “dealt with,” I mean “mark as spam,” though.

Before my Neon got wrecked, I listed it on CL to see if there was much interest. I listed it for $2700, though it was barely worth that much. Mechanically great shape, but rust was starting to destroy it.
First email was an offer for $1500, the rest were spam.
I didnt list my number though, I could never do that to myself. The people of CL need to work on their reading comprehension skills....

Not far off KSL is owned by the church.

This is a scam. They hit every ad for a vehicle on craigslist, and text the buyer asking for a history report. They just want you to sell you a report. Go ahead and send them goofy replies, and you’ll see it’s all automated.

Yeah don’t do that. Best case scenario, it’s some sort of deal where “Flipper” gets paid for every person he gets to click the link. Worst case your personal information gets stolen.

I think death might be a worse case scenario

“ and says to email the results to “flipper.xxxx@yahoo.com””
Email him a picture of a dick.

Yeah, scam alert. Someone is making a business from getting craigslist sellers to pay for these “vehicle reports” for cars they have no intention of buying.
