Hey all, you may remember me as Shark Attack, unfortunately I forgot my burner password so here I am. Gave the Jag it’s second bath since purchase today so I could take it out and photograph it’s new shoes! They’re actually off of the e24, but since they have really nice directional winter tires and the Jag has been taking over DD duties lately (and has given me 2000 trouble free miles) nothing but the best right?
A much more aggressive fitment, but smaller overall diameter means ~10% fuel economy loss.
Also tested out the corvette turbo fans, and all is good! No leaks, no bends. Not bad for what I paid for them. Now just waiting on the spacers to get here so they’ll fit the shark.
Test run and mini photo shoot last week,
Turbo fans + jag is definately an interesting look. I like it more than I thought I would but they’ll be staying on the bmw.
Questions, comments, hatemail? Let’s hear it!

Those wheels look great on the Jag.

Thanks! (I assume you mean the style 5s) I love the idea of taking wheels that are OEM and seeing their potential on vehicles they didn’t come on. I’d love to try some 3 spoke 90s range rover wheels with proper sized tires on the e24.

Nice :) reminds me I need some 16” basketweaves for my Jaaag.
What one’s yours? I6 or V8?

Tis the 4.0 v8. I love it. Which do you have? Any comments/complaints?
Awesome thing is both bmw and chevy wheels will bolt right up to the jag. These are 16” style 5s originally from an e32 7 series. One problem I ran into was the hubs didn’t quite clear due to a small lip on the wheels. It took a while to smooth them out (aluminum is a bitch to grind out), and I was also a bit nervous about modifying the wheels in any way but it ended up working due to them being lug-centric. Also needed cone seat lug nuts, thread size 1/2-20.

Nice :) have you looked into silencer deletes so you can hear it purr? Very nice noise they make :)
Mine’s an XJ40 so a little older than yours (although same platform). 4.0l inline 6 with a 5-speed manual. Bought it specifically because it was a 5-speed and I’m glad I did. It’s not a massive game-changer, and I can see why the autos are the preferable options tbh but the 5-speed is still good :)
Oh, and they get sideways very easily :) they’re like big softies when they do as well, really easy to keep under control.
How’ve you found yours? You’ve got a bit more power than I do I think (I’m at 221 + a more open exhaust - whatever the years have taken from it...)

I actually have. I just recently got into welding so I’ll be bypassing at least the cats likely. I’m considering mocking up a full stainless steel system, since I like TIG welding best and it looks fantastic.
Nice! Love the xj40s. I was considering one when I went for mine, but ended up getting a great deal due to engine troubles that have been since rectified. Still getting used to the auto because mines electronic, and I’m coming from a hydraulic bmw auto which is much more responsive.
I’ve only really gotten to get it sideways once so far and that was right before these pictures were taken. Seemed like an enjoyable experience though :)
Mines rated at 290/290 factory. Probably a bit less than that now, considering I have a small vacuum leak I haven’t taken the time to track down. I haven’t compression tested but have updated timing chain, tensioner, a general tune up, and all new gaskets except head. No check engine lights, no codes. I’m going to guess I’m probably around 270-280 whp which is pretty enjoyable even with the heavier lwb. It especially pulls uphill and over 60.
What I’d really like to do is install an electronic cutout so I can switch between low key and beast at will.

Yeah I’ve been looking at them for my V6 Alfa ever since the exhaust bolts stripped just before the cat and it sounded like a racecar from the 60s. Really must get that sorted.
I think I’d wire a button on the dash that just said ‘Loud’ for the cutouts :)
It might be a bit harder to get yours to step out as it’s a LWB model. Still fun when it’s wet though, and my LSD probably helps...
I need to get going on TIG actually. I can MIG with confidence, but I’ve never tried TIG (although I’ve recently bought all the gear necessary). I’m going to weld up some aluminium intake bellmouths and a stanless 6-3-1 manifold for my Triumph Spitfire project some point soon so it’ll be good to get some practice...
Once you get yours done make sure you post a video on here. There’s not much better than an uncorked AJV8 :)
