“The speed limit is 40 MPH? Well, its snowing and I’m in a 2015 Subaru Outback, so for safety I’m gonna go 20.” -Everyone Else On The Road

Pass ‘em

The only way I can pass everyone is if I was in a biplane

Hahaha I’m pretty sure I was the only person going the speed limit just now coming home. I love snow tires. My car was remarkably not awful before but now I’m invincible!
...as long as I keep out of turbo range in first and second.

Did you go to Big O?

No...they couldn't figure out over the phone if they could get snow tires for me (their website had none) so I gave up and went to the Costco by work. They were more helpful than I expected.

My favorite is when the Outback driver says “I have awd, I’m going 80. On Colfax.”

It means ‘awesome’.

Guess that’s better than trusting AWD will save you despite having no idea how to drive in the snow. Ask me about the time I almost died in my sister’s boyfriends’s old hapless haldex equipped G35x.
Turns out, AWD doesn’t work in the snow when you’re going down hill on a sketchy mountain road, because then you’re rolling not driving under power. Or when you have bald tires, which you didn’t realize were bald until someone’s helpful brother pointed it out at the top of the mountain. Or when you only have one pair of chains and the AWD system keeps sending power to the free wheels causing oversteer because it’s not like your old Outback this shit is not symmetrical.
What would really have been helpful in that situation is a driver who knew how to countersteer, instead of a driver who relies on helpful not structural at all berms of plowed snow to catch his spinning Infiniti before it plummets off a 1000 foot cliff.

Seriously though, I did not enjoy sitting powerless in the back seat knowing exactly what was coming next. Luckily a little pine tree in the berm saved us and it only took me like 12 hours to unclench.

I interchanged the words in the above sentenced. It fits.
That's snowing!

If it is very terrible visibility I would do the same. I was doing 45kph in 80kph zone todays. The road was hockey rink and could not see 10ft in front of my hood.
