While removing the slightly molded sound insulation from my 944 Turbo...
I was surprised to find this...
Rust. Paper thin too. I stabbed a screw driver through it.

Note he said moldy sound insulation. Sounds like he had water sitting on the footwells.

It could be from poor sealing in the cowl and firewall around where the HVAC goes from the engine compartment to inside the cab.
