Has Sony/Polyphony more or less stopped development of GT6? I haven’t seen any new cars, tracks, or features in quite some time. I have noticed they’ve backed off the “spend real money to get fake money” philosophy and have greatly increased both prize money and prize cars in seasonal races, although new ones seem few and far between, and are mostly drift trials. Honest to dog, I’ve never learned to drift in GT and just don’t even bother with these.

They finally released a course maker and companion app, but now they’re focused on Gran Turismo Sport (which seems to have an eSports focus) and Gran Turismo 7 . Looks like they’re moving into next-gen, finally.

I tried a few drift trials. It obviously requires changing the setup to something more ‘stance, yo!’, but it can be done. I’m just not very good at it and don’t care to get much better.
I picked it up and played for like a month in September and October until I had enough to buy a GT40 mkIV, then stopped again. The far majority of that cash came from the seasonal challenges.
The newest car I’m aware of for GT6 is the FWD Nissan race car (back before Le Mans) and some of the Vision Gran Turismo cars. I haven’t seen much mentioned in the way of future expansion though.

GT6’s expiration date was at some point in 2014 (They still haven’t fixed the really big issues of GT6 by the way). There is a new title with a radically different concept (by PD standards) about to launch very soon (by PD standards). This is a pretty big indicator that they are more or less focusing entirely on GT Sport at this point. Seasonals were mostly just randomly generated by a machine anyway.

Seeing as how my lady just bought the household a PS4, I’m holding out for GT7. I hope F1 2015 is decent - she bought that along with the PS4 so I’d have some kind of racing game to play since there is no Gran Turismo for the PS4 right now.
I’m guessing GT7 for PS4 will come out just after the launch of the PS5.

Ha! probably so, that is what they’ve done with the last two console releases

As a company that consistently delivers late and lacking, I’m all for them stopping development of GT6 which came out 2 years ago so they can focus on the next game.
I adore GT’s drifting, I think you’re missing out! I’ve spent countless hours drifting in 5&6.

I think the 2014 date was GT5. GT6 didn’t even come out until Christmas of 2013 and they were still releasing content pretty regularly until pretty recently. New cars, a few circuits, the Vision GT. It just seems in the past quarter or so it’s just totally stopped. And ALL online support for GT5 is done, which sucks because the seasonal events were the best thing about it.
