I just killed my dream car. The subframe decided it didn’t want to stay attached to the rest of the car, steering locked up and it ate a steel fence post in the parking lot at work. As you can see the carnage is pretty extensive.

I think I speak for everyone when I say we need more details bro!

Been there, done that. Killed my Dakota in a major way.

Ah, the old lemons to lemonade routine!

I did this to my E36 325i.
Bought some bits from a scrapyard, bent the inner wing back into shape and welded over an area of rust the shunt had uncovered and it was good to go again :)

It was a 308 fibreglass shell that my dad had the idea of turning into a kitcar with a tube frame and some MX-5 suspension goodies.
Never really got off the ground and we sold it a while back. Much better someone do something with it than it just sitting around here...

Good thing about SHOs are they're relatively easy to find and super cheap.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 09:55 |
|
I like the way you think.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 09:59 |
|
Step 1) remove engine from wrecked SHO.
Step 2) acquire Festiva (or even an old Fiesta).
Step 3) install SHO engine where rear seat of Fiesta/Festiva used to be
step 4) die in horrible high-speed accident with a huge shit-eating grin permanently affixed to your face.

I'm sorry. Tis a flesh wound. Looks like it just needs a front support and bumper...
![]() 11/20/2015 at 10:20 |

Ill have to dissect it and see how much i fucked it up.

A SHOgun would be pretty cool.

The steering wheel locked up as i was pilling out of the parking lot at work, and it ate a steel fence post.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 10:26 |

That is so sad.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 10:28 |
|
Maybe. Depends on how much I fucked this one up. If its junked, the engine is going into my Capri though.

Thanks Skay.

And a radiator, oil pan, ac condenser, headlights hood, front facia, and who knows what else. I can’t open the hood right now.

I think so. Theres a lot of damage underneath. It may be repairable, but thats entirely dependant on finding parts.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 10:36 |
|
We can rebuild it we have the technology. I’ve been there it sucks but what ya gonna do. I do like the wagon sho idea though.

Upgrade man upgrade

How fast were you going in a parking lot that it caused that much damage? If the engine and tranny are okay, then consider swapping everything over to a wagon, maybe? That’d be awesome.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 10:48 |
|
Yeah, that would make a sweet sleeper. How about a Sable wagon?
![]() 11/20/2015 at 10:49 |
|
That seems to be the idea thats cropping up the most. My Capri si still without an engine though.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 11:02 |
|
Not sure how fast I was going. Panicking and missing the brake pedal did me no favors though.

So there is is going to a Yamaha V8 for sale soon?

“The subframe decided it didn’t want to stay attached to the rest of the car...”
Is this a common Taurus problem?
![]() 11/20/2015 at 12:56 |
|
Sorry to see that, man. Glad you’re ok, and hope the engine lives on for you.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:03 |
|
Maybe you should find a donor car and work from their...a SHO is willing to be saved
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:06 |
|
Ooooooooooohhh that sounds fun actually. Lighter than the taurus for sure, right?
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:14 |
|
Not sure. This car was particularly crusty.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:15 |
|
Nope. Besides this is a V6. The 3.4 V8 came in the later Gen 3 taurus.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:16 |
|
I’m going to price out some odds and ends, but it may end up being more economical to get another shell and swap all the guts over.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:17 |
|
If it try really hard I could get the Capri under 2000 pounds. and itll be RWD.
![]() 11/20/2015 at 13:51 |

Holy mother of sweet awesomeness
![]() 11/20/2015 at 14:18 |

The SHO may yet survive so don’t get too excited. I have a ‘71 Thunderbird smallblock for the Capri anyways.

Quite fortunate that this happened in a parking lot. “A fiery death situation” could have been possible.
My ‘77 Kadett had a bent and rusty lower suspension arm. I wasn’t aware of the fact before it decided to fail. It failed 1 meter from my own parking spot when my room mate was trying to park it.
