This one, in fact. For sale by a local rally/rallycross connection. 4.0 auto, 4x4 of course, with the “Big Ton” package, with stronger rear springs, an optional Dana 44, over a ton of load capacity. Comes with a bunch of spare parts, too, including the missing front bumper. The typical rust spots - rocker panels, floorboards, cab behind the doors - have already been repaired. It would definitely help with my impending move, hauling stuff around in general (including motorcycles), and let me give off-roading a try, something I’ve never done. I learned to drive in my mom’s ‘87 Cherokee, so this should feel quite familiar. It would also make a sweet rally sweep truck!

Talk about something completely different than my BRZ. We’re checking it out this weekend. If we snag it, the Focus goes up for sale immediately since we’ll have no use for it anymore.

Does anyone have any advice on stuff to look for in an MJ? If it runs and drives as well as the seller says it may be occupying my driveway(s) before long.

As long as you play this on loop when you test drive it, I am okay with the purchase.

Rust always scares me, but a Jeep from this era that isn’t rusty is like finding water that isn’t wet.

The engine will still run when there are only cockroaches left on this earth.

Just know that you might lose all your L.A. privileges.

A friend of mine had the worst one I’ve ever seen. It was more rust than truck...holes everywhere, none of the paint would have graded better than ‘poor’, and the interior had all the cloth ripped off the seats.

Needless to say, it ran and drove great, hauled many engines to and from scrap yards, and was terrific off road. One of the finest $200 vehicles I’ve ever seen or heard about.

I can’t wait to test drive it.

Around 10 years ago I helped a friend buy one for $600. It was totally a Fred Flintstone truck. All the rust spots that are fixed on this truck were problems on that one. I don’t care if it’s ugly as long as it’s solid and works.
