That is genuinely pretty and that color scheme would look awful on literally any other car but I love it on that one

I wonder if the supercharger runs off that serpentine belt... is that belt is slipping and not spinning the s/c properly that could cause the vacuum leak code.

thats what I was thinking of as well. since the car is in another town, I’m only going on what the owner is saying.
EDIT: found this:
Now which tensioner went out?

Maybe hit the Mazda forums and see if there are any common issues on this particular model.
If you got the coin I’d stop by if I were you. If it cranks and runs without making any godawful racket, doesn’t smoke and shifts fine it could be damn good car with some maintenance done.
Is the owner in the middle of working on it? Fux up wit dis?

likely an old pic under the hood. owner said it was his daily for a while, and didnt want to keep it for longer.

Speaking fairly, there are far, far stupider things you could want.
Back when I blew the KLDE in my 2nd gen MX-6, I did a lot of research to see if I could drop that Miller-cycle motor into the engine bay (mainly because my mechanic was not willing to go through the trouble of importing a KLZE that he couldn’t warranty). No dice, though. That tight little engine bay had no space for the supercharger. :(

I know the feel of an MX-6. as ive driven both gens. Both are amazing.
And now.. probably this!

Miller cycle: when your 2.3 liter just isn’t gutless enough, just let out half the intake charge!
(This announcement paid for by the Mazda Lose This Skyactiv BS and Reunite With Ford So Your Pretty Cars Can Have Ecoboosts committee.)

KL-ZE FTMFW.
I loved the -DE that was in my first 626. What an engine. The 3.0 in my 6 is apparently derived from it, but isn’t as much of a sweetheart.

Do it!
Plus, oscillating vents!

I have a 2016 CX-5 G.T. with the 2.5, and it hasn’t yet felt underpowered, and I DD a 2003 6 with the V6. That said, the CX-9 is allegedly coming with a turbocharged 2.5 (nonofficial announcement yet? Lots of leaks) which is supposedly going to trickle down through the lineup for sportier models.

My mom had a millenia S back when I was younger. Its still the favorite car she has ever owned (and she has owned a lot nicer things now). For 650$ I say jump on it although be warned working in that engine bay is a huge PITA because of how everything is crammed in there.

Oh please.. Im used to it by now. Peugeot 505s with PRVs are a PITA to work on.
