Oh, yeah...extruding the grille outwards really surpassed the boundaries of engineering...forgive my ignorance, but I’m pretty sure moving a trim panel doesn’t exactly “push the boundaries of engineering...”

They had to make it more cheap and breakable to pass pedestrian impact standards is what he meant.

I’m not going to miss having to order every single little plastic bracket and mount behind the bumper and grille and headlights on Mazdas in our body shop.... those things shatter like nothing on impact.

Ah, that makes more sense...and yeah, modern cars are getting more and more breakable in the name of safety...perhaps in the future that classic cartoon thing where you end up holding nothing but the steering wheel will become a reality...

The music at the beginning had me thinking we were about to see the next Bond vehicle!

I would hope for spring or summer next year. IF they’re still planning on making one.

I sure hope so... Seems like there’s plenty of WRX hatch buyers to be had! Do you know when the new CX-9s will hit dealerships? I’ve already got a message into our salesman to let us know so we can get a test drive. Our ‘08 has over 175k miles, and I want to be ready when the time comes.

Targeting 40k sales per year in North America with the new model. Hope they can get there.

The SUV market IS still booming, and when the first gen came out in ‘07 is sold pretty well but most of Mazda’s vehicles were not as high end. Now that the whole product line has moved upscale (their dealers, not as much) they have a better chance at attracting that higher end buyer.

I remember back in ‘07 we had factory training to deal with the “more affluent” customers the CX9 attracted. Which just meant they complained MORE about the costs of repairs on their $40k+ vehicle.
