It’s just nice seeing a different design on the roads.

The more and more I think about it, it’s people saying they hate this kind of thing that leads to homogeneity in the designs of car manufacturers. The back end of many conventional sedans is a good example - take the logos off and I’d have a hard time telling apart a lot of designs.
That said, I don’t like the way this looks, but I didn’t like the Bangle-designed 5-series at the time (although I did like the 7-series, for whatever reason) but it has grown on me and would fit in very well with other vehicles if the design were released for the first time today.
All that said, you know what I love about this? I actually feel a bit of something. People trash Toyota/Honda for soulless appliances but this evokes a response, even if it is a, “oh god, why?” kind of reaction. As an enthusiast, it’s still miles ahead of seeing a car and thinking, “Meh.”

I still think it could use some tweaking to get perfect.

This is wrong. Toyota are trying to trick you into liking this car. If you fall for it Toyota will have set a design trend and in 5 years everything will look like this. Same deal with Lexus. It’s possible to make a distinctive car that isn’t hideous, don’t fall for this shit.
