The downside to the low beams always being on. It’s always a Chevy(or any other GM product) with one headlight out(a vast majority of the time).

Yes just like the wife’s Vibe. I have to say it irks me to not have control over something like that. We will always blind my neighbors across the street when we back in :(

These you can turn off, but of course they come back on when restarted. My Mom's Vibe has no way to turn off the headlights, which sucks.

The thing I hate about new GM vehicles is the stupid use of the reverse light as a courtesy light. Whoever came up with that needs to be drawn, quartered, burned at the stake, then tortured relentlessly.

They also need to look to Ram for their regular cab trucks. The cab inside feels tiny compared to my Dad's Ran.

I slam on the brakes in parking lots all the time because people unlock their cars, the reverse lights come on, and I think they're reversing out of their spot in front of me. So annoying.

I think it’s just a bulb. Doesn’t really matter though, not my truck, not my problem. The news guy has it now after we changed shifts. I now am living with this message:
Oh well, not my truck, not my problem.

These are the worst in packed parking lots, too. Invariably there will be some parking vulture blocking the lane waiting for a car that was just parked to leave. They also force me to cautiously pass them. Then again, I have quit waiting to let cars out if they have bow ties because I don’t know if they are occupied or not.

I've noticed this myself on anything newer than '99. WTF is the issue?

Most GM vehicles have an override somewhere that you can kill the lights with as long as you aren’t in drive. Maybe it’s the Vibe’s Toyota connections why it lacks one? Anyway, afaic your neighbours can suffer. I think it’s a low price to pay to have an idiot-proof automatic light system, considering how many people forget/don’t care about turning their lights on.
Also on the automatic light issue—wtf is with those systems where the headlights come on but the taillights don't? Oh great, this car turns my light on automatically, I don't have to do anything. Oh shit, I got rear ended because the engineers couldn't be bothered to run 2 extra wires.

It’s been going on longer than that lol, at least since GM began with always having the lights on, which isn’t really a bad thing. It’s one of the best things GM has ever came up with, because there are too many dipshits who don’t know how to turn their lights on.

Was it like that on the 90’s trucks? Referring to the issue of one headlight being out.
On the auto lights, I agree it's a good thing, and even you :) can't deny they got it right. One of the worse things I can think of are those systems where the headlights come on automatically but not the taillights (eg Caravan, Fiesta). You look out, see the headlights on and expect the taillights to be on as well. 2 minutes later you get pulled over for driving without lights. Or rear ended, etc. I mean, how hard is it to run 2 more pieces of wire? I wonder if it's a patent issue. If it is, they should just suck up and pay the royalties. No auto system at all is better than the half-measures crap. Or, do it the other way. Auto taillights but no headlights.

I do believe they did, but bulbs only last so long.

Or early 2000’s GM SUVs/trucks always with at least one DRL out. I went through three bulbs on my Tahoe before I replaced the housing. The housings get full of water, the connections corrode and ruin bulbs. Cleaned out the socket, got new dry housings and it’s good as new.
