Is this an actual thing and is there any truth to this guys Facebook post?
“This is a very rare 1992 Infiniti M30 convertible. It has a VG30E from a Z31 300zx. An R31 Skyline Chassis and R31 LHD dash.
In Japan this was sold as the Nissan Leopard as a pure drift missile.
This car is number 003 off the assembly line and signed by it’s creator, Kozo Watanabe, who also engineered the R32, 33, and 34 GTR.
This car was designed by Kozo Watanabe to be the test car for the R34 Skyline in the US market. You have a better chance of seeing a Saleen S7 than this.
As an importer it would grade at 4.0/5.0
It has 113,000 miles which is less than 5,000 a year.
I have full service records since 1992 which I can send to the buyer via email.
For $13,000 I can throw in a RB26DETT that I planned on putting in.
For trade I am looking for things such as a...
Honda S2K,
JDM glass top Honda CRX SiR,
Acura Integra Type R (original. Not swapped or built),
a very very clean RSX-R,
Acura Legend Coupe 6 speed.
or various other Nissan sports cars like a 300zx, 350z, Infiniti G35, or a 1990 or older Nisssn Skyline of any trim
I am in no hurry to sell so no lowballers.”

Yes, they existed. Factory. It was a Leopard chassis though. Here’s a stock photo:

I think it might be but I’m not sure either.

Yup, the M30 is a real thing. However, the chassis is pretty damn heavy (the convertible weighs 3600 lbs), and since the VG30E makes maybe 160hp, it’s slow. Without the twin cam engines in the JDM version and with only an automatic, it’s kind of lame, especially compared to something like the SC300.

I don’t know about the fluff, but yeah, it’s an Inifini M30, which is a US-market version of the Nissan Leopard & is related to the Skyline (afaik) and has a 300zx engine like it says.

The tops on these turn into bubbles at speed, same as the S13 ‘verts.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who remembered that.

The M30 is real, it does share a platform with the R31, it is sold as the Leopard overseas and does come with a lethargic little V6. It is rare, but I’ve seen a few of them.
You can find these things on Craigslist pretty easily for cheap. They are cool cars and would be a great base for a project car or daily, but he’s hyping them up a ton. I’d go with a coupe.
R31 for reference
M30 Coupe

The Infiniti M30 was a real car that was sold in America. I actually sat in an M30 coupe in 1990 while helping my dad shop for cars. He ended up buying an Acura Legend coupe instead.
True parts of his post:
The Infiniti M30 was in fact a rebadged F31 Nissan Leopard that shared its platform with the R31 Skyline, A31 Nissan Cefiro, and C32 Nissan Laurel. Keep in mind that the R31 Skyline came in many different trim levels, and many of them were very mundane typical late-80s rwd Japanese sedans.
Parts of this post that are bullshit:
The Infiniti M30 was not a development car for the R34 Skyline. It was instead a place-holder car for Infiniti to sell something cheaper than the Q45. Within a few years of slow sales, it was quickly replaced by the J30 sedan, which sold a little better. The J30 was mostly known for pretentious commercials where Jonathan Pryce talks in a posh British accent.
Conclusion:
I most certainly would not give someone so full of shit $13,000 to put an RB26DETT in a 1992 Infiniti M30 convertible.

Yep. 100% true Infiniti.
If true Infiniti were a thing.

Hell yeah. Coming here to post that exact thing.

I’m 90% sure it was only sold as a vert in the states.

It’s truly maybe a 4500 dollar car. If you can find some one that reeally wants it.

Neat! it looks sooo much better as a coupe.

Agreed! Good enough to consider owning if the price was right. I think one on some nice wheels with an RB, LS or 2JZ would be a really cool car to own.

This popped up in my mind too.

I think if I was going to do a bagged stance build this car would be on the list of cars I’d want to build. It’s a bit of an old ball, boxy, and very late 80’s, and not really a great performance oriented platform. all things I think go well with Stance.

You’re right; this would be a solid candidate. Maybe on some old school 15-16” period correct wheels. I have thought about building a stancey car if I had money to burn and, like you mentioned, it would be something that isn’t all that performance oriented to begin with.

$13,000 for an RB26 on the SIDE? WTF!?!?
