There’s a set of Miata BBSs on Craigslist for $200. Apparently, that’s for five wheels with good tires (not sure if it’s 5 full-size wheels or 4 and a spare) No center caps, but other than that, I don’t know much about them at all. My only dilemma is that I already have 14” wheels and I think I might want 15s, but these are an inch wider so they’ll definitely make a difference in grip. That said, I’m also not sure they’ll be a perfect fit. Mine are 14x5 with a 45mm offset, and these are 14x6... but I can’t find a definitive offset. Some sources say they’re not offset at all, but others are telling me they’re 45mm as well. In that case, the extra inch would be on the inside, correct?
I’m also curious what’s the closest I can get to the same sidewall height as my current 175/70R14s.
Lastly, I’m not 100% sure they’ll look good on the Escort. I might paint them white, or (if I’m feeling brave) paint the spokes black and leave the lip as it is.

at that price get them, if you hate them I bet you can move them for $250 and make a small profit

Isn’t offset measured as distance from center? I think in that case your “extra inch” would be split between inside and outside. “not offset at all” is likely nonsense - very few wheels don’t have offset these days.

Yeah as long as they are in semi decent condition you can’t beat it. Re-sell if you hate em. Turn them into cool furniture if you don’t want to sell them!

According to the Miata wheel table :
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
So these are nice wheels, they’re no rare ‘95 M Edition 15x6 BBS wheels, but they’re also some of the lightest OEM 14s you can find. Yes, they’re 1 full inch wider than your current wheels. You could still fit your 175/70 R14 tires but they might be a bit stretched. (Actually, they’ll fit just right. 175 mm is about 6.8 inches.) Also, yes, they have a 45 mm offset so they’ll fit just fine on the Escort.
Otherwise, consult Discount Tire’s calculator to see what impact a different tire will have.

It’s the distance of the mounting point from the center. But yeah, you’re right. I was being dumb.

Buy them and use them until you can get some RPF1s or something. Then sell them off for profit.

BUY THEM. You won’t regret it.

Make sure they come with the proper BBS caps or else you’ll be having to search through junkyards to find a diamond in the rough.

They don’t, but I don’t mind too much. Unless that destroys their resale value?

It does hurt the resale, here’s a set of caps for 239$ and possibly the same set for 229$ on a Miata forum . On scamBay there’s a complete set of wheels and caps for 600$ . If you can find a Rx7, Infinity, or another Miata in a junkyard with them still attached (need a special BBS tool to remove and install them) then that’ll help you in the long run.
