Got pulled over again the other night. Or, rather, I was already pulled over... with my girlfriend... and without any pants on... But anyway, I told the cop that we weren’t planning on doing anything actually sexual (because we already did, but he doesn’t have to know that...) and he seemed okay with that; he just had to verify our ages because of my lack of pants being pretty incriminating.
That’s when things got scary.
My girlfriend, apparently, has no ID. I knew she didn’t have a license, but apparently her mom has neglected to take her to get a regular ID for the past two years, even though that’s required by law. Even though I would honestly say she looks a bit older than she is, the cops were sure that she was underage. Of course, at this point, I’m realizing that I technically have no proof of her age myself, and if she’s been lying to me this whole time, well shit - I’d become a registered sex offender and nothing would ever be the same. (and situations like that really need to be looked into... I’d propose that as long as the underage party is at least 16 and within 3 years of the other party’s age, that should be legal. It makes no sense that two 17-year-olds can legally consent, but as soon as one turns 18, it becomes statutory rape.) But anyway, she called her sister to verify her date of birth, and apparently that was good enough to let us off the hook.
So I’ve now been pulled over four times, (and stopped once on foot) across four different counties, and I’ve received five different verbal warnings. That wouldn’t be too impressive if I wasn’t just 20.

why doesn’t she have her driver’s license yet?

Sounds like you need to take someone to the DMV to get a license or at very least a permit.

I think all you have to do in that situation is say “No pedo” and you’re good.
Glad you got out of it!

“I’d propose that as long as the underage party is at least 16 and within 3 years of the other party’s age, that should be legal.”
Most states do have a clause for this exact scenario, FYI.
And yea, keep bothering her to get a hold of the required documents to apply for a permit or non-driver’s ID. Maybe offer to take her yourself since her mom clearly has no sense of urgency.
And if possible, try to find a non public place in the future ;)

Her mom has no sense of urgency about anything, and she’s only recently turned 18. So now it’s just a matter of finding the time to get out there and get it herself.

I used to do a mapping exercise with kids interested in pursuing geographic information systems as a career. I would start with the question: “How many of you are 18 and dating someone 16 or younger?” There was always at least one in the crowd.
The exercise started with the assumption that the girl’s parents caught you in the act and decided to press charges. I would show them some of the online maps that locate known offenders. Then we would start mapping the buffer zones around all the places you couldn’t live as a convicted sex offender. State laws vary, but they usually exclude sex offenders from living near schools and daycare facilities.
The results were always surprising to them. Because of the distribution of schools and daycare facilities, the exclusion zones cover most of the area in many cities. In some small towns, the entire town can be off-limits! I remember one kid complaining that his family land was inside a buffer zone. It made him think about what he was doing and whether the risk was worth it.
A little hanky-panky can lead to a whole lot of trouble, especially if one of you is underage. Even a stupid prank like streaking can get you labeled as a sex offender if there are kids around. Think about that before you rush the field at a football game in the buff!

Sounds familiar, except we were caught in the act. We were cited for being in a city park after hours. I picked her up in the same car and took her to our court date. After we paid our fine, we went out to the car and did it in the county courthouse garage. Ah, to be young again...but not get caught again. Once was enough.

I got my first speeding ticket just last week. Went for a blast in the SHO after a tune up and I saw a motor cycle in the side of the road. I think no way that’s a motor cycle cop in the middle of November. This ass hole is tailgating real bad. Shit.

Check your state age of consent laws. That “age of consent,” “Statutory rape,” stuff has been rewritten pretty much everywhere since the 90s. And maybe use private browsing because googling “age of consent,” can raise flags if it’s done repeatedly. But seriously look at the actual statutes in your home state.
Here’s a good laugh, by the way.

Hehe, yep. Although the goal was to, ya know, not show them. ;)
