I suppose I should, given that I pretty much messed up my first semester (which is why I’m withdrawing this week). In the mean time, I’ll be taking a break and will try this whole college thing again next fall.

TIME TO DO CARD SORTING AND FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU WANT

(Seriously I did that some time ago and it really helped sort out my ideas and what I wanted to do... digital artist + video editor)

That’s what I’m trying to do right now, actually. I’m a graphic design major presently, but I’ve had a slight interest in architecture (mostly furniture designing, but I’ve been dreaming up minimalist housing/architecture designs occasionally). So, I might try and follow that through.

Business school dropout here. I bailed on college to work in auto journalism. I’m not saying to be an auto journo, but consider other trades that interest you. College wasn’t for me and it’s certainly not for everybody.

I was interested in furniture design for a while (and kinda still am, but not enough to do it for a living). There’s some great resources out there and maybe take an apprentice job at a woodshop to learn how to use shop tools.

This guy’s site is amazing because not only is his work high quality but his documentation is superb.

Switched from aeronautical science to television production and video editing. I’ve been very happy ever since. It can be hard to admit that you didn’t choose the right major right off the bat, but it’s definitely worth it to explore other options.

You could come to my college and join me in the motorsports engineering program.

Where is there a motorsports engineering program?

IUPUI has one (Purdue degree), and I think there is one somewhere in North Carolina (because NASCAR).

It's basically and composites, automotive, and fluid dynamics engineering degree rolled into one.

I should also add that the department runs/has run several SCCA cars. The MGB is the former car. They replaced it with the Miata.

This is not a bad plan, especially if you’re paying to go to school, it’s a lot of debt to take on so make sure it’s worth it.

I went for 3 semesters as an electrical engineer before dropping out. I think I just wasn’t ready because I did awfully because I did not consistently study or go to classes. I ended up enlisting in the Navy for 6 years, then went back on the GI Bill as an electrical engineer and loved almost every second of it (except differential equations).

That is cool. I did not expect that at Indiana University Purdue Univisity Indianapolis. What classes and events do you run the cars in?

I’m enrolled for next year, but I can tell you that the Miata and MGB are F-Production cars. They run in the Solo stuff in the Indiana regions. I think they made it all the way to Nationals this past season.
