For some reason, I wondered why I stopped going on Facebook, so I logged back on it after over a year.
I was immediately greeted with a barrage of arguments from the graduating class page. Apparently some douchebag was saying racist stuff and his douchebag friends were defending him, while pretty much the rest of the entire graduating class was (finally) calling them out for their douchebaggery.
The douchebag pulled a CL63AMG and said he got hacked. Schrödinger’s douchebag at its finest. His douchebag friends believed this.
Now I remember why I left Failbook.

Ugh, Facebook morons. I stopped using my Facebook account a year ago because of them.

Deactivated my account as well. I can waste my time through much better mediums.

That is in fact your current status.

Is this were I come to be self righteous about still never having Facebook?

Speaking as someone who bailed on Facebook well over a year ago, despite having been there since nearly the beginning (Cutting edge! University student networking!), I feel ya.

As someone who works in social media marketing, I can’t wait to get into a non-SM related position so I can get rid of mine. I’m so sick of social media.

I’m trapped and have to play. Easiest method to getting photos of my son to family members.
I delete/block people I don’t want to deal with or if I have to keep them as a “friend” to avoid drama, there’s a way to hide them from your news feed so you don’t see their shit unless you go looking for it.

I’ve two FB accounts, one for here and other car related stuff and one for a select few friends and colleagues.
I don’t accept people I don’t want to and people I work with who ask why I didn’t accept them, I tell them honestly ‘I work with you and that’s it, we’re not friends, we’re colleagues’. Others who I really don’t like but have to work with get told ‘I work with you, I don’t like you so why should I want to converse with you out of work’.
I have low threshold of dealing with stupid people. Especially those who get paid the same as me but are openly lazy and don’t pull their weight at work.

Yea, I hear that a lot. Luckily my kids understand and don’t blackmail me into joining FB. They happily e-mail me their pictures or put them on Snapfish for me to see or download.

I didn’t black mail them, they joined Facebook before my son was born and it’s now an accepted practice.
Sucks to be my college friends seeing all these pics of my son though hahaha

I actually have a pretty pleasant Facebook experience and really have no intention of getting rid of it.
However I have aggresively culled and/or hidden any offenders, which has basically left me, my close friends, and close acquaintances. For that, it’s perfect at keeping in touch and communicating about relevant topics.

If it isn’t then I took a wrong turn several pages ago. Though I should say that Tinder aaalmost got me to sign up.

I did that too. Or tried to, at least. My close friends ended up being not so close after all.
And damn nearly everyone else went away for college.

People used to ask me why I stopped using it, and I didn’t want to insult them lol so I just said I didn’t use it anymore.

Oppo is a pretty good example, car forums another. But what really gets my rocks off is leaving the computer altogether.
