Today’s NPOCP mentioned the Mercedes single wiper. I had never really thought about how that worked. And here’s one guy’s theory:

My Mom’s old wagon had the single wiper. It was so big that when you were sitting still you could feel the car move when the wiper moved across the windshield. If it was on the fastest setting there was quite a shake you could feel. It was still pretty cool though.

It’s nowhere near that complicated. There’s just a multi-lobe cam.

My apologies. I thought that was the case as what looks like a cam is visible, but it appears it *is* that complicated. This despite me owning one.
