Allow me to help:

Wheel spin and torque steer! Yay!

*smirks*

The Mazda 3 overall is a solid car and I would recommend one to anybody. Especially because Mazda gave em Manual transmissions too.

I have to put up with Jalopnik FP hate of the 350z/G35 all the time.

I like my G35 dag nabit.

Sure, the MS3 torque steers, but no worse than a FoST. Besides, none of that will matter when you’re blowing past BMWs left right and center.

I’ve only driven the Gen1 MS3 (my dads), and I don’t get what all the hubbub is about the torque steer. Once you drive it more than 5 minutes, you naturally compensate for it. It’s always consistent.

The Focus ST on the other hand has the stupid brake vectoring fake LSD thing. It truly ruins the car in more ways than one. I’ve put on almost 30k miles on mine with multiple HPDEs and AutoXs in-between and I STILL can’t keep it straight when accelerating. I can feel the car squirm side to side as the brakes are being applied to each powered wheel causing you to have CONSTANT input into the steering wheel to keep it straight. The gen1 MS3 just pulls to a side and you just apply some pressure to fix it, the Focus ST you’re always fighting with it side to side.

Public roads are not racetracks, why people obsess over “best handaling EVAR!!!11!1!1” for public roads is still puzzling.

A buddy has a slightly older Mazda3 hatchback and it’s a great car, I personally would not mind owning one.

Torque steer has never scared me away from anything. I drove a Saturn Ion Red Line once that torque steered like Lucifer, and it still put a crazy grin on my face. And it was a SATURN ION!

I have the Gen2 speed. My response to anyone who carries on bout torque steer = it must suck to not know how to drive.

it’s just a played out rhetoric

MS3 is way worse than a FoST. I owned a 2010 for 3 years and my Dad has owned a FoST for the last 2 or so and I’ve driven it several times. The MS3 has terrible torque steer. I loved the car and learned how to drive it, but when I switched to a RWD car after that I am never going back. Sorry to be argumentative, but I have tons of time driving both and it’s simply not an accurate statement.

As someone seriously considering a G35 in the near future, thank you.

I think the dislike generally stems from complaints about the owners, not the cars. It’s really unfair, because those are two vehicles that perform their given roles quite well.
