Most of the leaves up here are gone now, leaving the trees barren and ominous. There’s a very narrow window of perfect fall foliage, which makes me glad to have taken the time for a little photoshoot of the E30 last week.

I had to make the best of it with a crappy point ‘n shoot, but a few photos came out pretty well.

Where did you take your weekend drive?

Also, any cheap good camera advice? I’m thinking about going used, something like an entry-level DSLR or micro 4/3...

Used cameras can be a great value. Pretty much any recent Canon/Nikon DLSR with a kit lens or two will be great to start out with. M4/3 and mirrorless are also a good option. An Olympus or Sony would be good to start with.

Check your local classifieds and see if you can find someone selling a complete kit. Camera, lens(es), memory card(s), bag. Those would be pretty much be the basics.

Some recommendations would be the Canon T(x)i series, Nikon D3xxx or D5xxx, a Sony A6000 or the NEX series, or one of the Olympus OMD series. Pentax also has some nice options.
