The simplest things can bring such pleasure. Living in the city I rarely get to see the stars anymore, and given all of the shootings and drug dealing I hardly ever just step outside and observe the heavens whilst at home The cadets were so excited to see them they were just looking out both sides of the van to get a view, but of course I had to keep my eyes on the road. Being out here in nowheresville this evening I finally got a chance to sit back and stare upward and ponder. Good memories of camping and backpacking trips in the high Sierras came flooding back, reminding me that sometimes we just need to step back our day-to-day existence and revel in the beauty that surrounds us.

I was recently sitting along side the Colorado river, with the stars exploding in the sky and reflecting back in the water, laying on my back and thinking thusly, it was nice.
