Granted, not every girl, but my wife yes. In her defense, when she talks about dogs, it's the same situation.

True, but you can wean them into motorsports non the less!

It’s all about sharing someones you care about’s passion. Watching F1 with your significant other is a lot of fun.

On a slightly related note:

(disclosure: I may or may not have memorized this every other line with a friend on the way to the pub years ago.)

Lol, we don't have cable. Though I still dislike dogs, :)

You’re not doing it right. She can. You are just not making it understandable.

My daughter gets it. Does she want to get her hands dirty? No, she appreciates what she knows though.

I was having dinner with my sister the other day talking about the car I just bought and the mods I want to do now that I have a turbo’d car, and as a med student at the top of her class, she could NOT understand anything I was saying.

No, she just doesn’t care, which is understandable really. I’m not crazy about dogs. I find them loud and annoying, like the one we have. But I do take an interest in her other hobbies.

I used to watch that show every night in college.

At work today a coworker and I were joking about adding a hood scoop to be ’cooler’ and just started with weight deduction, and another coworker comes up and says “I have no idea what you guys are talking about”.

I'm hoping that's a sign of being a true gearhead, lol.

I honestly only know this part of it.

Haha, I’ve been noticing it a lot more lately. Some people have NO CLUE about cars. My coworker got a new Genesis and I asked him if it were RWD (I don’t know if the sedans are, but I know the coupes are) and he replies “dude.. The front wheels are the ones I turn with” with a completely straight face, as if I asked a really stupid question.

In his defense, I used to think that too (pre-gearhead self), lol. Nowadays I clarify with ‘which wheels have power to them’. If they still can’t tell me, “what do you drive.....ok, that’s a [...] setup.”

It was a nightly show on FX for about 4 years, maybe less. It was advertised as a late night guy version of the view. If you ever saw the Man Show on Comedy Central it was kind of like that.

Hopefully that means you can have an obnoxiously loud car? Because logic.

So true. I default to using chassis codes since it’s easier to give the image of the exact car I’m talking about and I can’t be bothered to know the model year ranges. Unfortunately that makes me look like I’m just speaking in another language to most other people.

Ha, that works too. But try to get people to think you're a spy, speaking in a secret code, :).

HAHA! That reminds me of one time I was in a college class and I was taking a late night lab course with about 20 of us in there. I found out one of my lab-mates likes cars and so I suddenly said “I really like e46 M3s” and someone just perks up and whispers “Hey, you guys talking’ ‘bout e46 M3s?!” My friend who has no idea about cars then asks us “What in the world are you guys saying? That’s just numbers and letters! Is this some sort of code?”

Which is why I’m thankful I married a Tom boy. Though, it only deepened the mystery of ‘how do woman think’. I can sometimes predict how she acts, but to this day I still can't explain it.

Nice! At work I have just one guy I talk cars too, and I’ll be honest, I don’t know everything, but I do seem to know more than what the average person does.

Yeah, I tend to talk either of cars or working on the house at work a lot, lol.
