I don’t like it.

I didn’t realize you could finish Fallout. I thought it was one of those explore forever games?

I need to tell this to my friend who just got Fallout 4. He’ll be so thrilled.

Yeah so did I. The end sequence played and now I have zero motivation to do anything else in game.

Hey, he might enjoy it. I can see what or rather who they were going for but after 3 months of New Vegas, Fallout 4 just seems dull & dumb.

Ha. I’ve driven through Boring a few times.

Do they have sign?

Yep, it reads “Boring Oregon City”

Well you shouldn’t have speed through the main gameplay then...
![]() 11/12/2015 at 20:24 |

Wait what? How would that make a difference.
![]() 11/12/2015 at 20:24 |

What in the...?
Who the hell just speeds through the main questline in a Bethesda game? Did nobody teach you how to play sandbox RPGs? You do enough of the main quests to open up new areas and then spend 60 hours of NOT doing the main quest.

Yeah... You haven’t played Fallout 4, have you?
The world is fully open from the get go because they give you power armour immediately. A couple of upgrades and you are unstoppable.
So being unstoppable I went exploring and found.....
NOTHING!
The sidequest are really lacking. I found what I thought was a cult in the style of Scientology. I expected a big long quest chain but nope. Either give over all your things for a suit or die. However I’m unstoppable so I killed everyone and left. This is not unique to this “quest”.

I just bought it two days ago. Can’t even make it anywhere on the storyline. This is the saddest game I’ve bought in years. It’s like a cross between Skyrim and ... other boring, tedious, very long, very slow, grinding on-and-on RPGs.
![]() 11/12/2015 at 20:43 |

Lol that’s how I felt about GTA. No motivation to play post story.

The side quests I’ve done so far are very tedious. Build a settlement? I ended up playing janitor for a couple hours trying to make it look not completely crappy. Then again, I’ve barely made it anywhere thus far, but I am up to two “go kill some raiders for us” quests and at least 3 settlements.
I was surprised by the power armor, too. I thought, “yeah, this will just be a taste and I’ll be back in raider armor soon”, but no, they just leave me with it. The mildly-annoying thing is that they broke with Fallout tradition and added the fusion cores to them, so instead of it just running forever, it’s like driving a tank with a fuel gauge. I’ve already met the BoS and it looks like I need to join them, but they’re nothing like the BoS encountered elsewhere.
Then there’s the lack of storyline and proper dialog. I get to watch videos instead of having serious options for what to say. Plus, the interface is such a mess. They should have spent slightly less time making sound files so Codsworth could say your name and a little more time writing a compelling story...
I feel like 3 & 4, the most Bethesda of the series, can’t hold a candle to 1, 2, and New Vegas.

So I have a reason not to understand the hype around it?
![]() 11/12/2015 at 20:51 |

Yeah I’m gonna go search for some quests now there must be something interesting in this big arse map.
As for the Brotherhood, they explain why they are like they are now and as someone who liked the Brotherhood in 3, I wasn’t pleased with what they have become.
But just like you said my biggest problem with this game is the dialogue. There just isn’t any. My companions have nothing to say and everyone in the Commonwealth has the same few lines.
Also the fact that I’ve suffered 5 game breaking bugs hasn't done the game any favours.

My friends think I’m crazy for not preordering it. Everyone has hyped the Hell out of the game and honestly ruined it for me.

It’s been out for 2 days and you finished it? I don’t believe you.
I think it's the best game I've played in a while. It may not be for everyone, but I'm 12 hours in and loving it

I got way too overpowered way too early to the point that the main story missions became borderline strolls in the park. Took me 20 hours to finish the main story and 40 side quests according to the game.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 01:23 |

That seems to be major problem for Bethesda. All of their games I’ve played were like that. They tend to do one thing really well and then seriously under deliver on everything else. That and bugs. Seriously guys, can we make a game that doesn’t freeze every hour? Even patches don’t come close to fixing everything. Half the adventure in a Bethesda game is the chance that you could encounter a game breaking glitch at any moment.

That was fast! Over on Kotaku they are all like “I’m 20+hours in and the story hasn’t even started!”. To be fair, didn’t seem like they were huge into it either.
Never played a Fallout game, doesn’t look like it would interest me at all.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 10:41 |

Well you could have done more weird side mission stuff and then finished the game....
![]() 11/13/2015 at 10:45 |
|
Like what for example? The side missions in this game are garbage. They have one formula. Speak to person. Go to building. Kill boss. Press A. Go back to person. Rinse and repeat 40 times. If you know of any vaguely interesting side quests then let me know.
![]() 11/13/2015 at 10:55 |

Oh no, I don’t know. I just enjoy side missions. I guess I’ll have to play more to see if they are boring in 4
![]() 11/13/2015 at 19:02 |

Yeah. Although Skyrim had grinding, at least it had some interesting quests from time to time. So much repetition...

I’m gonna wait for the steam sale, fallout series doesn’t quite captivate me like the Elder Scrolls series does.

Oh I forgot I wrote this. I should do a correction or something since with my 2nd play through my opinion of the game has changed a lot. Still the weakest Fallout but I finally found some fun in Boston.
