Wait, the 300ZX is an alternative Halo car? Wasn’t it more expensive (at least, tax-wise) than the GT-R, because it had a larger engine? There’s also the bespoke platform thing.
In any case, the answer is obvious. DD ZX, Track Stealth, burn SVX.

admittedly these cars are now regarded as alternatives not so much when they were new. today skylines, supras, rx-7's and nsx command top premiums. the 300zx does not despite its hefty original price tag and competitive performance

Having driven all three and owned one...
DD the 3000GT(V4)- Truly a GT car you would be comfy driving coss country and over the Rocky Mountain’s great divide in the worst weather. Bonus if its the hard top convertable.
Track the Talon- Gutted they get down to around 2600lbs and can outpace turbo 911 trackers. I seen it. A reinforced engine and transmission will outlast pretty much everything else for half the price.
Example: The transfer case is abouts the size of a large hoagie and requires no modification before 700hp. After that, you buy an aluminum cap to reduce flex. Thats it.
Burn the 300ZX- Engine bay is too cramped, car is kinda heavy, mods are too expensive.
...why so many would track heavy ass complicated cars that will never come under 3000lbs I’ll never understand

It’s production numbers. They made ~11,000 Supras. They made ~90,000 300ZXs.
