On my morning commute, I often see a parked Porsche 912 in what appears to be Tangerine. The last few times it had a paper sign inside the window, so I figured, what the hell, YOLO.
I turned around, parked my car, shuffled over to the driveway...
“PORSCHE NOT FOR SALE”
Bah. I felt so punked.

That’s like, trolling IRL. Putting a paper in your window that says “Not for sale...”
PS
everything
is for sale, for the right price...

Probably has a Streisand effect: more people will come up just like I did.

The classic 911/12 is like a halo car for me. I’m not sure whether I would actually like driving one, and I don’t know when I might get my hands on one to find out, but I couldn’t resist. The 964 would probably be a better car for me. Let’s see if this bubble ever bursts.

Pretty funny that I know EXACTLY which car you are talking about. It’s been there for 25+ years. It had a cover on it during the 90’s, I guess it blew away. I think the sign is fairly new, as is the license plate.
I believe the color is (was) Signal Orange. Pic courtesy of Google Street View.

I feel ya; I’ve got a neighbor with 3 air cooled 911s sitting around (presumably non-op, haven’t seen them move in 6 years). I intended on asking what the deal was when I saw the owner outside...but years passed and he was never out. Eventually I knocked on his door just to say what’s up, what’s your plan, what’s the history, etc. not really intending to ask if they were for purchase or anything. All I got was “They’re not for sale” and he shut the door in my face. Only time that’s ever happened.
I'm sure they're rotting a slow death too...he lets his lawn grow out till the county mows it and one of his gutters has detached is hanging down forlornly.

You’ll like driving one, old cars are fun. As long as they’re in good condition, they’re really not much different than brand new ones.
