With the Ferrari 488 and BMW M6 getting their race versions, the 2016 season in GTE and GT3 (also GTLM and GTD) is pretty much set. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you every new GT racer for next year’s season.

Based on the new R8 (which looks like the old R8), the new LMS (which looks a bit like the old LMS) comes back with a better V10, a new, swan-neck wing and extra hexagons. It’s proven its worth on the N24 and Spa 24, so the second -earliest competitor of the 2016 class has made its mark.

Yup, BMW’s biggest 2+2 coupe takes the reins from the hoopla-filled Z4 GT3, and now it carries a proper, twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 from the streetcar M6. And unlike the road-based M6, the race M6 only looks large, but the thing weighs just 1300 kilos. Oh, and did I mention !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ?

Look at that big bad piece of spankin’ Silver Longhood. With a front end that looks like maximim security and an N/A 6.2L from ye ol’ SLS GT3, AMG pretty much weaponized the GT for next year. Look out below!

The new GT3-only 911 may be the cutest car of the batch (no, really, just look at it), but behind all that kawaii (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) is a fighter, a no-holds-barred GT3 RS derivative with an N/A 4-liter six-pack, radiators in front, a far bigger wing, and sweet, sweet waifu fuel with dem hips. It’s been !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and did well, so the many Porsche runners all over have something to to lean on.

With two Le Mans class victories on its cap, among other wins, the 458 GT2 is a legend in the GT racers tier. No worries, though, because the 488 GTE, with a twin-turbo V8 and a new aero package, will be run by the same !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , which is now united with SMP Racing to finally become Benetton GT Racing (not really). The GT3 version, meanwhile, is for everyone else who wants to race the 488, in, say, GT300 or ADAC GT Masters.

The !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! has been running ‘round tracks since early 2015, and the main GT3 car made its mark by winning on its maiden races !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , so the “new” car has got experience, something that will come in handy !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

The only car that can out-angry the AMG and the Lambo, Callaway Competition’s replacement to the venerable !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! comes replete with a rear wing that cam straight from a TIE Advanced, pumped fenders and louvers on those fenders, an escape hatch on the roof, angry vents everywhere and self-breathing LS power (6.2-liter V8, which is different from the 5.5-liter V8 Pratt & Miller is running).

Well, well, well. It’s the new Ford GT. It’s got the biggest diffusers of the lot, the tallest-looking rear wing, and the only one who can be proud that it’ll race in two big endurance series in EU and US with a twin-turbo #Marketing V6. The engine sounds like WW2’s best craft, the looks kill, and did I mention that the car’s diffuser is the biggest of the lot? Chip Ganassi is waiting, AF Corse.

Quite the surprise entry, the RC F has been racing in VLN (Emil Frey and Farnbacher) and Super GT (LM Corsa Japan), but wouldn’t make its US debut until 2017, and instead racing in random events (probably PWC) next year, and guess who’s driving !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .
All these cars will join the !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , and old guards !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! in a jam-packed season where sports and supercars get dressed, bone up, and go race from as little as a few laps to as long as 24 hours.
This series doesn’t get any better. And it makes me want an all-new and rebooted !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

self-breathing LS power (6.2-liter V8, which is different from the 5.5-liter V8 Pratt & Miller is running).
Luckily if the break down, they can just pull a motor from one of the new Silverados!
Obviously some minor changes would be required...
Also is this the line up for Le Mans too?

Oman, I’ve got a bunch of these made on my computer, I’ll post them at some point

No. Only the Ford and multicolor Fezza are in GTE-Pro, the rest can be refitted for GTE-Am, but that’s expensive for a privateer team.

What about the factory teams? (all the Germans)
Are you saying the LMS isn’t going to LeManS?
![]() 11/10/2015 at 09:32 |

Well, the M6 will have a GTLM version for Rahal, Letterman, Lanigan, but the rest can be a bit easily-refitted for GTE-Am. A bit.
They can still participate in VLN and the Blancpain Endurance Series, though.

my goodness those are some gorgeous race cars. I don’t think I’ve ever said that about a modern race car but damn.

Only GTE cars that have been homologated by the FIA and ACO are legal to race in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. GT3 cars are not legal.

The class is in a golden age. Almost every marque has a GT3 car, and there are so many teams running them. Best part? The BOP isn’t too intrusive. It gets borked sometimes, but it works.
I never thought I’ll ever see a series or class that will get this loaded, but here it is.

So, who is going to get a championship winning BoP this year?

I cannot wait to see that Ford on the track!

I’ll have to follow this GT3 series more closely, if possible. Do they do webstreams of races? I don’t have any TV service whatsoever, so I need to find webstreams, torrents, or hope that the series is up on YouTube.
Do these cars borrow any chassis elements from the roadcars, or are these basically tubeframes with the bodies on top?

GT3/GTE regs require that many of the parts of the race car come from the road car. They’re not silhouette racers like NASCAR.
As for online coverage, Blancpain has all their races streamed (search for GTWorld), while NISMO TV streams Super GT with excellent Radio Le Mans commentary (you can find GT3 cars in the GT300 class of that) but I’m not sure of everyone else. IMSA may stream theirs, but the WEC coverage is a paid service. Nurburgring 24, Bathurst 12 Hour, Spa 24, and Dubai 24 stream theirs, too.

How did I miss this post? Good stuff. I’m hoping to get hands on the Huracan GT3 next season, if I proved myself well enough with the Super Trofeo squad.

Would love to see one of these turn up in IMSA GTD class.
