The family minivan is officially out of business — after having it for 7 years. It starts, but the engine sounds like shit. Dad’s mechanic says, it’s busted. Time to start pitching new car suggestions to my Dad. help pls. Requirements after the jump.
It has to be a car that generally fetches $4000-$7000
Preferably Ford. Chevy is acceptable (absolutely no Dodge), as are Imports (no Hondas or Toyotas or Europeans)
Cannot be a minivan or truck
Steer clear of V8s
Must be Model Years 2007-2009.
Pile on your suggestions. If you’d like to entertain yourself and provide ads, I’m located in Houston, Texas.

sooo he wants a fusion?

Are you trying to replace the utility of a minivan also? Or do you just need a car?
EDIT: Autotrader search that fits that category includes two Camrys (which I would get if I had those specifications), a ton of Aveos, Malibus and Fusions. I second the guy on top to get a nice Fusion.

Either that or a Malibu/Impala if he can stand the idea of driving a Chevy.

or a Ford Taurus Wagon

impalas of those years are junk. don’t.
why not the mopar or the Japanese? because frankly, for tht price and tht year, those are your best bets.
and i’m willing to bet some of them are more American then some of the American cars

I like how literally none of that criteria makes any reasonable sense at all (well ok, I get the minivan and dodge part, especially if combined - but what even?)
edit: PS: obvious answer is Subaru WRX.

Just need a car.

My dad has really bad taste outside of minivans.

This might be the nail on the head...

from this gif it appears that you had the Eddie Bauer Edition

Ah, the Taurus X. At least it dumped the CVT of the Freestyle for a 6 speed AT.

Sadly I don’t understand the reference

What about a Subaru Forester or Outback? They fixed the head gaskets by then. The Subaru Forester is a really nice utilitarian car with a comfortable rid and great visibility and reliability. The Outback isn’t bad either, king of a slightly higher station wagon. If I could only one car, it would probably be a Forester from that era. If you’re concerned about the HG, you can always try for a six-cylinder Outback.
If it has to be American, then yeah, probably the Fusion. I don’t think GM was really making anything inspiring in that era, except for maybe the Malibu.

no refrence. it was an awful joke on how you posted a mclaren gif, and the eddie bauer edition is the most expensive Windstar trim.

$6650
I had an ‘06. Wish I didn’t sell it.

Yikes, I forgot to mention no European cars. Absolutely none!

I don’t think Subarus are going to be considered, I am not a fan of them personally. The Fusion looks to be the deadset winner of this match based on the specifications I’ve listed.

This one would be better: 2009 Nissan Altima for $5800

Find the nicest Taurus or Crown Vic you can afford.

Why no Europeans? (and I thought you drove a Pink S2000)
Either way:
-early 2000s Subaru WRX
-Nissan 350Z
-Ford Probe GT
-Mazda RX-7 FA
/Miata
(Oh and just because I can, here’s a couple euro options that id think you’d like:
-BMW E46 3series
-BMW e36 3series
-VW Passat B5
-VW Golf MK3 or Mk4
-Audi TT)

Ford Fusion, Focus, Taurus, Five Hundred
Mercury Milan, Sable, Montego
Chevrolet Malibu, Impala.
Pontiac G6
Saturn Aura.
Buick Lacrosse.

Oh man, you are way off the mark LOL! This post is so I can come up with suggestions to pitch to my Dad.
I don’t drive a pink S2000 yet, but I will when I have the funds to do so...

No way in hell a Crown Victoria.
Tauruses are ugly.
![]() 11/09/2015 at 23:30 |

Ford Fusion and Focus are the ones I’m going to suggest first imo. None of the others seem all that appealing to me. Maybe the G6 or Aura.
Definitely no Buick.

Why no like Subie? You should at least check one out. They are very nice cars. The V6 is decently quick, too.

Hmm...
Just to get an idea, on a scale of 1-10 how warm am I with Pontiac G6?

Chevy Impala without a doubt. He will like the size and feel of it. Out of favor now so prices are good.
