I saw a Mustang today. The one above in fact but that picture was from ages ago. Anyway I decided to have a gander on Autotrader for Mustangs as you do.
Now I can’t afford a Corsa let alone a Mustang and even if I had that kind of money, I’m buying an E39 M5 not an Automatic Covertible Mustang but still I’m curious are the cheapest Mustangs on Autotrader overpriced or what?

3-door fastback SN95 Mustangs?

Grossly overpriced. Those prices in dollars would be too much, at least in cheaper classifieds/Craigslist. As much as double.

Yup and the seller know it.

Okay, That’s not an 08 and/or there is no 5.0 in that SN95. Either way this sound fishy.
I don’t know the price of importing and legalizing a Mustang on your side so I really can’t say.
But 6000 pounds (12,000 loonies) for a convertible white foxbody in immaculate condition is unbelievably expensive; here, this would be a 8-9 grand car.

Honestly, considering these are on the wrong side of the pond, and I don’t think they were ever sold new over there, they are probably pretty well priced.
The decent cheap ones over here run about 4-5K depending on year and other factors. So converting to pounds, adding importation costs, dividing by cookies and squaring the beer, yeah probably in the ball park.

Yeah, those are way overpriced. Assuming they’re in mint condition and have the stick and V8, those would probably go for, at most, $4000 - $5000, so around 2450 to 3307 pounds.

I think a fastback is a 3 door in UK classifications. I really wish the 3 and 5 door system would get an overhaul since way too many Coupes and Saloons are being classified as such.

The vast majority are Automatic Convertibles with detachable hard tops.

So at most $3000 or 1990 pounds.

Yes, in the US they are 5k for those years but depending on how clean they are and well running they could be worth that much.

Wouldn’t be too bad if it was dollars not pounds.

If they were in dollars, not pounds, they would be pretty reasonable. Those prices probably would only be good if they were in absolutely excellent condition.

You can get an e39 m5 for 6000 quid?

Yup

When you factor in that they’re fairly rare in the UK and all had to be purchased overseas and privately imported, I guess those prices aren’t so bad. Look at the premiums commanded by desirable Japanese cars, like Skylines, in the US versus Japan or other countries where they’re more common, for example.
A ‘96 GT convertible, like the red one second from top, would be worth maybe $3,500 (£2300) on the high end, with that kind of mileage.
