I know I’m in the minority, but I much prefer the bug-eye WRX to the facelift. Someday I hope to pick up a cheap 2002 World Rally Blue wagon as a project.
My vote goes to the great de-cladding of 2003. Or as Chevy called it, the “without body hardware” option code WBH. I know it wasn’t really a facelift as much as a body kit option (or anti-body-kit option) - but it made a huge improvement in the look.

I agree...and I think the 2nd gen Fusion is better than the 3rd gen. I'm not so sure I like the Aston mouth on the front of it.

That’s not really an accurate comparison. Compare 5.0 to 5.0

I think they were sold alongside each other.

Yep, like I said it wasn’t really a facelift in terms of one style replacing the other. It was just an option, but it wasn’t added until the 3rd year of production. Before that you had to have the cladding. So I’ve always thought of it as a facelift, because it happened mid-generation.

Charger SRT-8 (Or any Charger, really)
The real big improvements were inside.
Went from being a blocky, plasticky mess, to an actually somewhat respectable muscle car.

when the new mustangs came out in 05 I hated the GT with the big fog lamps inside the grill. once they change the design I suddenly thought they were the coolest thing ever. I think 2011 LED HID headlights with fogs in grill would be money

There are a whole slew of Chrysler products that got huge interior facelifts of similar quality sometime around 2010 to 2012. Turning the Sebring into the 200 sticks out, but pretty much the whole Jeep and Dodge lineups also got new interiors that were huge upgrades while the exteriors just got tweaks.

What about the Nissan S14 getting angry all of a sudden in 1997?

Honestly, there’s so much aftermarket there’s something for everyone.

I am at your mercy as to whether or not this qualifies as a facelift. That said, it was the dominant thought when I read your post.
For me, it’s the transformation of the Fiat Multipla.
