I can only think of one FWD car (sedan or coupe) that can still be had with a V6 and a manual which is the Accord Coupe. These used to be so common almost every brand offered at least one. Sort of a shame, the instant torque of the V6 I find much more preferable than the Turbo lag of a 4 cyl.

The days of an affordable, fast, fun yet sensible car seem to be dwindling faster than ever. I fear that pretty soon they will all be 4 cyl autos.

If Honda stuck with FWD, AWS, and the manual transmission long enough to make them great, I have no doubt they’ll stick with the V6.

And too bad it’s only available on the coupe and not the sedan. The 4-door V6 Accord manual was only sold for a couple years, and they didn’t make too many of them :(

Basically a Civic Si for adults.

That said, transverse V6’s are EVIL. Impossible to work on, two valve cover gaskets, and of course it’s always the one on the back that fails first. I HATE them! That’s why I’m happy about the transition to turbo-4 power in FWD family cars, where low operating cost matters.

Ditto for AWD and manual with any engine. Subaru is still pretty good about it on some models (as long as you don’t want a top trim, which brings with it the CVT). There’s the Mitsubishi Evo (not long for this world.). In the luxury space, Audi (God bless ‘em) will still sell you an A4 with Quattro and a 6 speed. But BMW now makes you shell out $45k+ for a 340i xDrive if you want the combo. I remember a few years ago you could get a 3 or 5 series with the NA straight 6, xDrive and a 6-speed.... together. The perfect do-it-all DD.

It seems to be a dying combination, which is so damn disappointing.

These were my requirements when I was looking for one car to do it all, AWD, manual, with a preference for turbos. I also love I6’s, so I just bought a used 335i.

I love the early 2000’s Accord V6 manual coupe, and I think that all of the coups from then on are all very good cars. I would consider one when the warranty on the BMW runs out...

No Mazda 6? Surprises me.

I guess there’s no point in wondering why Honda offers a manual but Acura...doesn’t.

A 4 door accord V6 Man is what I had in mind when writing this post. I’d love to have a brand new one it would be pretty much ideal for my small family.

At 30 years old the Civic SI has lots it’s appeal I wan’t something a little more grown up.

Yes they are a pain to work on but if you get a Honda at least it should be pretty much bulletproof. You won’t be changing valve cover gaskets in the near future.

I think you can get a passat v6 manual in europe!

Nope! They got rid of the v6 this gen.

Yeah when you really think about it Subaru is pretty much the only player left in that category.

Why don’t they make a Legacy GT anymore? That was the perfect car for someone who has grown out of the boy racer STI and want something a little more civilized. Hell even a Legacy 6 cyl manual would be fantastic.

You used to could get a TL in a manual but I think they cut that option.

Doesn’t do us much good in North America.

They did.

And the new TLX, as we know, is auto-only.

Snobs always hate on Honda but remember they at least still make this.

I’m just guessing a bunch of Audis are FWD and manual with a V6. May be wrong, though.

That is such a sturdy platform - you’d figure they’d at least offer a V6 with a slushbox. That car would compete well against a V6 Camry. Probably more entertaining to drive as well ....

No such thing as a (new) Passat V6 in Europe. The biggest engine you can get is a 2.0L 4 cylinder (280 hp gasoline or 240 hp diesel). Neither of which is available with a manual, as they’re top of the range engines and it’s a Passat . Not a car you buy because you like driving.

The only manual V6 four door I could find was the Opel Insignia OPC (your Buick Regal). But that’s AWD, not FWD. It does have 325 hp.

Nothing the matter with Honda at all. I ca’t see what all the hate is about they make quality cars. May not be as exciting as some but quality wise it is pretty much the best car you can buy for your money.
